I've been teaching myself some French recently, and I find the pronunciation to be the most difficult part.

How do you tell/hear the difference between, for example:

Il mange and Ils mangent

or

Elle mange and Elles mangent

They sound the same to me.. Are they, in fact, pronounced exactly the same way? Or is there a subtle difference?

So, sometimes I'll hear "Il mange", when the person is actually saying/meaning "Ils mangent"

I recently got my first, nice (kind of expensive) makeup brush (from Sephora).

I use it for applying liquid foundation.

I tried cleaning it for the first time today (the Sephora lady told me to wash it every two weeks). I rinsed it with water and swirled it in hand soap.

My question is: Is all the color supposed to come out of the bristles? Should it go back to looking like it did when it was new? Because right now, the color of the foundation is still on the tip

I've been at an internship for 3.5 months now, and my 'boss' asked me if I could babysit their kids this Saturday evening from 6:30 to 11 pm.

This will be my first time officially babysitting (I've kind of hung out with them when they're around, but I've never had an actual babysitting job before).

The daughter has very recently taken a liking to me. She's 9 and we seem to get along :)

The son is 5 and doesn't know me as well.

I seem to be able to relate and interact better with the girl, who's also older. But of course, I want them both to like me as a babysitter.

ANY tips/advice at all for babysitting (especially these ages and my situation) are really appreciated!

Ideas of what the kids and I can do together, what I might be asked to do during this time frame (dinner? bedtime?), any questions I should ask?

Any advice/tips/suggestions on how to make friends in a new city (or specifically in LA)?

Unfortunately, the job I moved here for is literally just me and my boss. No co-workers at all.
