  • Upgrading from a Pentium 4, what sort of card should I get?

Right now I have a slightly modified dell dimension 8400 with a Pentium 4 processor running at 3.2 ghz. I have 2GB of ram and a Evga 8600GT video card. My motherboard is a socket 775 running a i925x chipset.

I was wondering if I should upgrade to a new processor and if so which one (under $150). OR should I wait till I can build/buy my next computer, in 2 years with a core i7?

  • Can I use an old hard drive with XP installed on a new built pc.?

I am looking in to building a pc for the first time, I have picked out all the parts I want and know that they will all work together. But I have only re-installed windows on a machine, never started it from a blank slate. I really don't want to shell out the $150 for a new copy of windows and I am making this computer for my Fiancée who is not as computer savvy as I am so Linux is out.

I was wondering if I could just slip in an old hard drive with XP installed in to the system and have it work.

If not, is there anything I can do besides installing a new drive and OS to make it work?

  • Best SD Card reader?

I am looking for a cheap SD card reader that will also read xD. I am looking for one because my camera will not load the 30min video that is saved on the card. I am hoping that a card reader will fix this for me. Any help is appreciated!

P.S. I will give a best answer if I purchase the reader you promote.

  • Where to get engaged in cincinnati?

I have been dating my girlfriend for 3 years and am looking to pop the question over the Christmas break (we are both college students graduating in may). I could pop the question as soon as she gets off the plane from visiting her mother over Christmas, or I could wait until she gets back and do it somewhere else after a nice dinner.

    So my question is:

    Where do I ask her?

When should I ask her? (Christmas day is out... she doesn't get back till new years eve)

If I should do the traditional romantic dinner, where should we do it?

  • RCA to +/- audio connection problem?

I have just bought a used Sony receiver to replace my old Aiwa system (the power converter died). The thing is that my old rear surround sound speakers had an RCA connection and my new receiver has the standard +/- speaker connections. My real question is it better for me to look for new connectors or just strip the speaker wires and solder the ends to make them compatible? Oh and is it normally the white or black wires

    that are positive?

    Thanks for any help!

  • Home Receiver Help?

I am buying a Receiver for my home theater setup, My speakers are a bit older but they still sound amazing and seem to be the best option for my money right now (nothing has blown me away on a <$100 budget). They are older aiwa speakers with 6 ohlms of resistance and 60w rating. I am wondering if it is going to be a problem for me to buy a sony amplifier with 4 or 8 ohlms impedance and 80w rating.

    Here is the amp: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl...

  • What sort of steamer should I buy?

I am a college student looking to furnish his first apartment & kitchen. I already have a basic set of pots and pans, a 12" wok and all the cutlery imaginable. I really am looking for a steamer that I could use to steam vegetables. I just want something that comes with its own pot/pan or that i can stick over one of my other pots/wok.

    Any help is appreciated!
