Am just buying a house and have noticed electrical cables have been laid on the ground feeding the pool pump. Before buying I need to know what the rules are regarding laying electrical cables outside. Tried looking up on 17th edition but am not that smart. Need to know, in simple terms, what needs to be done. Thank you

I am trying to create a barrier between a tiled roof and wall. There is no movement in the building just hairline cracks that leak. I simply want to fibre glass the joints and then paint over with specialized paint. I have no idea what type of resin is required and what type of fibre glass is needed. In england we would use lead but in Spain it is too hot for lead. I thought it would be easy to go buy some fibre glass and apply it. Guess I was wrong!! lol. Need help!! Thankyou

If I have 220 volt supply and my washing machine pulls on average, 7 amps and I am charged .11p pkw. How do I work out how much that washing machine costs me on a 2hour cycle. Will I be able to apply the equation to any appliance?

My question is, am I right to hold the deposit back until agreed work has been done. I have volunteered to do majority of the work myself but the owner seems reluctant. He says that he is worried that I will give him a big bill at the end. We are running a business out of the property and if it is not finished for the summer season we will be in financial difficulty.

I have an apartment in spain and a property in england. With the current economic climate being the way it is I fear I may have to give the keys back to the bank manager because I simply cannot afford them both. If I was to hand the keys over to, lets say, the spanish apartment would this affect my property in England or are these both separate?

I have placed a 6 way RCD protected, split load board in my house. On the Rcd side is one ring main circuit with about 30 sockets on it. On the other side is the upstairs lighting, downstairs lighting and the boiler. I wired it all up and turned the ring main on. All was fine till I turned the lights on then, for some reason, the RCD trips. I removed all the earths from the lighting circuit to see if there was a leak to earth or a borrowed earth. Same problem. All appliances are unplugged, the lights upstairs, that are on their own circuit do not affect the RCD. When I am downstairs the lights in the lounge dont affect it but as soon as I switch the new Kitchen lights on the RCD trips, even though the lights are not protected by it. Why is the RCD tripping when i turn the lights on? All the wiring I have done is correct. Do I simply have an over sensetive RCD or is it something more complicated?

I am now in my third year of employment as an Improver electrician for an electrical company. I have just found out today that 3 of the other engineers were allowed to take their wives out for a meal over christmas on the company credit card. The remaining 2 of us were denied this privelege. When I questioned one of them about it he told me that it was because they had worked hard on their contracts. This infuriated me because my contract had gone without a hitch, received commendations and had scored favourably with the local government. I work as hard as anyone in this company and a damn site harder than one particular engineer favoured with this bonus. I feel angry and pi77ed off with what has happened and feel it is discrimination. Am I right?
