  • What are those black strips across the road for?

I've been noticing lately while I'm driving that on some roads there are two (sometimes just one) rubber strips across the road. They'll be there for a few days and then they'll disappear. Are they used to record the amount of traffic on that particular road, or maybe to note speed? I would really appreciate an answer to this!

  • How do I fix my Yahoo e-mail?

My e-mail home page tells me I have a new e-mail in one of my folders, but when I open it up there's no new message. I check marked all of my e-mails and marked them as "Read," but it still won't fix the problem. It's driving me crazy!! Can I fix it myself or do I have to contact someone? Who do I contact?

  • Should a 16 year old with cancer have the right to choose his own medical treatment?

I read in the news about a 16 year old boy who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a form of cancer, who does not want to go through a second round of chemotherapy and the state is trying to force him. The first round of chemo left him very weak and sick, and despite initial success, his cancer came back a few months after. His doctor ordered a second round of chemo, but the teenager decided against it and with his parent's support, chose an alternative, herbal treatment. The doctor disagreed with their medical choice and reported them to social services. Now the state is taking them to court, alleging medical neglect, and is trying to take custody from the parents.

Do you think that the state of Virginia has the right to force the 16 year old to take chemotherapy and remove custody from his parents? Isn't the state going too far? Remember, chemotherapy is a treatment, not a cure, and there is no guarantee that it will work.

  • What percentage of marriages are actually successful?

If 50% of marriages in this country fail, then that implies that the other 50% of marriages succeed. However, there are alot of married couples who don't (& won't) divorce but are miserable and unhappy. Is the definition of a successful marriage only based on the fact that it's still held together by a piece of paper? What do you think a successful marriage is?

  • Does anyone know how to put together a scrapbooking crop?

I'd like to hold a Scrapbook Crop in my local area. How do I go about doing this? I've gone to a few crops myself and they always charge about $25-$30 per person to cover the rental of the hall and food for the day. They usually also have local scrapbook vendors and stores with tables set up so you can buy stuff. How do I advertise and find people? How about vendors? Do I charge them to have a table? What kinds of places are good to hold something like this?

  • Riddle: Knight vs. Dragon?

A dragon and knight live on an island. This island has seven poisoned wells, numbered 1 to 7. If you drink from a well, you can only save yourself by drinking from a higher numbered well. Well 7 is located at the top of a high mountain, so only the dragon can reach it.

One day they decide that the island isn't big enough for the two of them, and they have a duel. Each of them brings a glass of water to the duel, they exchange glasses, and drink. After the duel, the knight lives and the dragon dies.

Why did the knight live? Why did the dragon die?

  • Do people have a right to voice an opinion about politicians if they didn't vote?

There was a time that people fought for the right to vote and now the number of people who actually vote is disgraceful. I'm tired of hearing people complain about the President and other politicians when it turns out that they aren't even registered voters. I feel like I have earned my right to an opinion with my vote. What do you think?
