I used up the energy efficiency tax credits that ended in 2010, however, I just got a flier from an insulation company that says "Insulation Package Qualifies for 10% Tax Credit Up to $500". This is news to me. Please provide details of this new tax credit for 2011. Can I get this tax credit for additional work done in 2011 even though I took full advantage of the energy efficiency tax credit in 2010 -- I had high efficiency windows and insulation put in.

I bought and sold only one mutual fund in a regular account (non-IRA) in 2010. I don't have a business and don't own any other mutual funds. I would like to avoid buying the H&R Block at Home Deluxe version and purchase the less expensive Home Basic version if I can report this simple mutual fund transaction. Can you tell me if the Home Basic version can handle this simple mutual fund transaction?

I know tuition is eligible, BUT what about the following two daycare fees:

(1) Book Fee for Daycare

(2) Activity/Supply Fee for Daycare

I would love to hear the benefits an iPad has other than just another cool techology that Apple has developed. So far I have not felt a 'need' to own one as it will be just be 'more stuff' I have to upgrade and maintain. How has it benefited YOU over what a laptop already provides?

My employer has a daycare savings plan which I contributed and used the max ($5000). In 2009, I had close to $7000 in daycare so I was over by about $2000. Is there any way to deduct a portion of this $2000 on the Federal tax return?

I purchased a highly energy efficient hot water heater as well as a high efficiency furnace in 2008. Is there anywhere to claim a credit for these two items? It looks like federal forms are only giving credits for solar heating and hybrid vehicles. If you know where to claim a credit for new furnaces and hot water heaters, let me know. I am claiming a Standard Deduction because it is higher than itemized. I am still wondering if there is anyway I can write off the following two expenses in another place -- if so, where? (I do not have a side business so I cannot include it there. Also, the unpaid employer expenses are not high enough to include them there.)

(1) License Plate Renewals for 2 Cars (Personal Use Only)

(2) State Physical Therapy License needed for work (unpaid by employer)

I sold an item on Ebay for $1500 and the buyer and I have decided that the condition was overstated. I would like to return $500 to the buyer, but would also like Ebay to adjust the Final Value Fee based on the newly agreed upon price. Is there a way to report to Ebay the adjusted price so that my Final Value Fee that I am charged is less? If so, where can I do this?

Besides the typical larger file size, what are the downsides to showing images as PNG versus JPG on web pages?
