I have worked since I was sixteen years old until 2008 when the US economy went to the dogs, and the business I was working at had to close. I did everything I could to gain employment at that time, but for the first time in my life, couldn't. A health problem I've had for over 12 years has steadily gotten worse, and I applied for Social Security Disability, under much urging and advisement. I was turned down and told I could get less than $700 a month with SSI. There is a woman down the road who hasn't had a job in at least 15 years, had no plans on going to work, who applied and is receiving $13400 a month. She is married, less than two years and now seperated. I'm single. Does this make any sense? Do I have any recourse?

I'm considering selling my goods at area craft fairs and need to know how many items I should have per day. Is taking orders a common practice?
