For a kids birthday party - do you prefer appetizers & finger foods or meal type food (ie: hot dogs, burgers)?
I'm planning my son's upcoming 3rd birthday. There will actually be mostly adults (mostly family) and a few young children around his age... I can't decide if we should serve a meal like burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, etc... or finger foods and appetizers...
So, what do you think?

6 AnswersEntertaining10 years agoGood ground-cover for GA climate, full sun, slope, spread, smother weeds. Prefer something green...?
Hello!
I'm looking for a good ground-cover for a small slope in my yard. I'm in GA so I have clay like dirt... There are currently some pesky weeds that I would like the ground cover to over-take. I want something that will spread nicely. The area gets full sun as well. I don't mind something that will grow taller like a small shrub, but not too tall. I don't want anything that stays too close to the ground either...
Considering some sort of Thyme, or some sort of Juniper... Any other suggestions? What do you think of either of those choices?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoWhat color should I paint a small powder room?
I have a very small powder room that I'd like to paint. I love warm earth tones, but I don't want it to feel like a cave... Any suggestions?
I was thinking of a green color, or a rusty red, or a pumpkin spice type orange... Thoughts? Would that make it feel too small or overwhelming?
13 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoSomething greasy or oily leaking into driver side floorboard...?
I have a 2002 Ford Focus - of course now that it's paid off it's falling apart... lol
Something oily seems to be leaking into the driver side floorboard. I haven't touched it yet, but I don't notice any kind of odor in the car. It seems to have gotten worse. A week or two ago it was just a greasy area on the rubber floor mat, now almost the whole mat has got this nasty greasy junk all over it...
Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks in advance!
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHas anyone ever heard of a pregnant woman's birth being induced by watching another woman give birth?
My sister in law and I are both pregnant. I am due in two days and she is due in approx six weeks... She was debating on whether or not she wanted to be in the room with me while I was giving birth but then some ladies at work said that her being in there could cause her to go into labor - I'm assuming that this is an old wives tale type of thing, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever heard of such a thing...
Thanks ladies!
8 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoDoes "gallbladder disease" affect my baby (fetus) in any way?
I started having pains and symptoms associated with gallbladder problems so my CNM had a liver function test (blood work) done and an ultrasound. They did find something on the ultrasound apparently (not sure if it's just enlarged or if there are stones) and diagnosed me with "gallbladder disease" (which means anything wrong with my gallbladder apparently).
My questions are:
-Have you had gallbladder problems during pregnancy? What was your experience?
-Does this affect my baby in any way?
-I've read that in some cases the problems get better after giving birth...?
-I want to do whatever I can to avoid surgery - what are some things that may help?
Most importantly I just want to make sure that my baby is and will be ok...
Obviously, when I'm able to speak with my CNM I will discuss these things with her and go from there but I just wanted some opinions and to hear from anyone who has had this happen.
I am 25 weeks w/ 1st. Never had issues before pregnancy.
Thanks!
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago23 weeks pregnant - This morning my hands started itching! They've been itching all day... What's up?
This morning in the shower my hands starting itching, mostly my palms.
What could be causing this? Is it just one of those normal crazy pregnancy things or is it cause for concern?
I have an appointment next week and I'll be sure to mention it just in case but I just wanted to get some opinions from you ladies.
I'm 23 weeks.
Thanks in advance!
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat are some unique or uncommon baby boy names?
Hey ladies! I'm looking for a name for my little boy that is unique or at least not too common...
My husband and I both have uncommon names and I don't think I'd have it any other way!
If you know the meanings that's an added bonus!
I need ideas for first and middle names.
Thanks in advance for your help!
15 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoWhat is the proper way to inform people where you are registered?
I have several friends and family members who live in different states and obviously will not be attending my baby shower...
My question is - do I send them invitations anyways? If not... is there another way of informing them where I am registered at?
I don't want to sound greedy or anything like that - but I was just wondering if there was a proper way to let the people who won't be coming to the shower know where I'm registered. I don't want to just like shove it in there face and make them feel obligated to get something...
I hope I'm making sense, lol.
Anyways, thanks in advance ladies!
20 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI felt my first kick yesterday! Yay! When should they become more regular?
Hey ladies! I'm 19 weeks and I felt my first kick yesterday morning when I was laying in bed still! It was pretty neat!
My question is - should they be more regular now or could it still be another week or so before I feel it again?
When do they become more frequent and more noticeable (harder)?
Just curious! Thanks in advance! : )
12 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoFirst pregnancy - is it normal for your stomach to not feel firm at times?
For a few weeks now my baby bump has been very firm - for some reason this morning it is squishy (of course I have some chub, hehe)...
Has the baby just moved away or something? Is it normal for the bump to be hard then squishy, etc...?
I'm 19 weeks with #1.
Not really worried - more curious. Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat could cause severe painful pressure and discomfort in upper abdomen at 19 weeks?
Last night after eatting I did feel bloated a little while later and of course it was uncomfortable...
Soon it became very very uncomfortable and I had severe pressure and discomfort in my upper abdomen (right beneath my breasts) that became painful... I could not find any position that was comfortable and I even tried walking around and nothing helped... My breathing became quicker probably because I was so uncomfortable and in pain... Then I ended up throwing up.
Eventually I MADE myself calm down and breathe better to see if I could get past it and it finally eased up...
This was about a 20 minute ordeal. That's the best way I can describe it... it was very very uncomfortable and painful...
What can that be? My husband and I assume it must have been a HUGE gas bubble but I just wanted some more opinions...
I do have a doctors appointment next week and will definetly mention it. If it happens again I will call.
19 weeks with first.
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs it "the norm" to have a 3D ultrasound now?
I have known two or three ladies that have recently had babies or are almost due... they have had 3D ultrasounds done... I was just wondering if it's normal for them to do the 3D ultrasounds these days or if just depends entirely on the doctor or what? Anybody know?
Also, is anyone by chance living in the Gainesville, GA area and going to The Longstreet Clinic - did you have a 3D ultrasound there?
Thanks ladies!
16 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoCan sex effect the result of a pregnancy test?
My husband and I have been suspecting that I may be pregnant for almost two weeks...
We finally got a pregnancy test and it did show a positive almost immediately.
But... we did have sex about an hour and a half before I took the test... Will that effect the result?
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs it ok to sprinkle baking soda in your ferrets bedding and/or litter box?
I figured baking soda would help reduce the smell of urine and waste in my ferrets litter box (and in the bottom of the cage in the bedding since he doesn't use the litter box 100% of the time...) but I wanted to double check that it would be ok for the ferret...?
5 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoIf I was charged 152% interested on a credit card can I get the debt cleared?
My husband had an old credit card that was charged off... He now has a third party collection agency that has served him with a summons for this debt... We were looking through all of the old statements and found that one of our statements said we were charged 152% interested - which I believe is illegal. Could this possibly get the debt cancelled/removed/cleared/etc...?
4 AnswersCredit1 decade agoDoes GAAP apply to consumer debt?
Does the GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES (GAAP) apply to consumer debt?
In other words - The GAAP states that a Third Party Debt Collector cannot collect on an account that has been "Charged off" by the original lender...
Is this true?
4 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoHow can I get a shiny (glossy) spot out of my table???
I have a wooden dining room table that has a matte (not glossy) finish. I had a white spot on the table (from heat) and used this pretreated cloth I got at Home Depot that gets those white spots out - however it made that area glossy!
How can I get that glossy spot out of my table? Thanks!
