Why am I being undercharged on my federal income taxes?
So far on the year I’ve made $58,000 gross, and I do have some tax allowances but still I have $56,000 taxable income. My concern is that at $38,000 I should have entered the 22 percent bracket, but I’m still being charged 12 percent. I like paying less taxes, but the issue is I’ll probably unexpectedly owe thousands of dollars at tax return time. I’m wondering why I’m being undercharged?
14 AnswersUnited States3 years agoCan you ask a barber at a chain haircut place to "surprise you"?
I've had the same hairstyle for three years now, and don't really have a sense of fashion to determine which haircut I want. I get my hair cut at Greatclips, which has some decent barbers depending on the location. They usually have a piece of paper with the same haircut as last time. If I told them to "surprise me" and give me something different, do you think they'll do it?
1 AnswerHair4 years agoWill my truck pass inspection with reverse light switches?
On my pickup truck, for some reason the reverse switch on the transmission is completely bypassed, and the are two switches in the cab to turn them on. My pickup truck is from 1976, so I may be able to get away with saying they're original, because they actually used to b for auxiliary lights that go on a plow, so they look original. I don't know if it would pass though
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoShould a clutch release bearing have some slight wobble?
This is the first clutch release bearing that I'm replacing. The old one was very obviously loose because it wobbled like crazy. The new one is much tighter, but has some very slight wobble, as in side to side movement between the inside and outside of the bearing. I'm unsure whether the bearing should be completely tight, or if this is normal
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoAre smart phones overall the worst things recently invented?
I feel like the cell phone prior to text was a great invention, being able to call wherever. However, as useful as they can be, I feel like smart phones are the death of society. I'm somewhat of a victim myself because I often use my IPod touch which is essentially the same thing, however I refuse to buy a smart phone so I can limit myself somewhat, and I refuse to download any social media like snap chat, twitter, etc.
I just think it's sad, hanging out with friends while they all have their phones out, either "capturing (or missing) the moment" on snap chat, looking at what other people are doing, or texting other people instead of enjoying the moment. Luckily cell phones are banned at my college during the day, but in high school people would just sit there on their cell phones and not talk. You also have people who can't get off the thing and use it while driving, walking, etc. I've even seen people freak out and not know what to do when their battery died.
Another thing which is causing me to try calling people a lot more instead of texting is that it' hard to interpret things via text, and it's easier to say something you don't mean via text. Some of my biggest arguments and lost relationships were due to text message, and I see it happen to others all the time
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans5 years agoDo all the races vary in intelligence and brain size based on evolution?
I know it's a politically incorrect thought, but it's something I thought about and upon further research seems to have some truth, but since it's politically incorrect it seems like there's not enough information.
It was something I began to think about, because all the different races have physical differences such as skin color, hair type, eye type, etc. People of African decent also tend to have more fast twitch muscle than those of European decent.
I was just thinking, it wouldn't be a major difference, but isn't it possible that the races have evolved differently to have different brain sizes and IQ? I've heard that it's true that Asians have the highest IQ and brain size, and Africans have the lowest. Then again, I've heard those studies are controversial.
4 AnswersAnthropology5 years agoMilky oil on dip stick?
On my old truck engine, I checked the oil today and the oil on the dip stick was coffee colored. I know this is usually bad news, so I cleaned the dipstick and checked the oil again. This time, the oil was completely normal in color. Since only the oil on the stock was creamy, and not the oil in the pan, what could this be?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoHorror movie that takes place in isolated dessert town with a few mutant people, similar to Hills Have Eyes?
I can't remember this movie too well but I watched it years ago. It was a low budget horror film that was free on Comcast. I remember these people somehow ended up at this random little town in the middle of the dessert, and there were three people I remember; some husky guy with an axe, a guy with a messed up face and ate human body parts, and a normal guy who sort of mysteriously walked around. I believe most of them died, and they killed the guy with the messed up face towards the end, and two drove away in a bus, then the husky guy chased them and killed one of them
2 AnswersMovies5 years agoIs a little bit of coolant in my oil bad for my engine?
I just replaced the timing chain in my truck, and there are bolts in the timing cover that have coolant behind them. Most the coolant came out externally when I removed the bolts, but when I removed the cover a slight amount ran down into the oil pan. Normally, I would just change the oil. However, I want to do a Seafoam treatment which would require me to change the oil as well, so I would rather knock out two birds in one stone. I just don't know if it would be bad to run the coolant through the engine
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoDoes badly rusted rail dust in my clear coat still come out with a clay bar?
My truck has been sitting awhile, and I just noticed little red spots all over the truck. It's definitely rail dust. Some spots are only beginning to rust, and are only about the size of a pencil point. Other spots are the side of the pencil eraser. I know that a clay bar will remove the metal causing the rust, but will it actually remove the rust spots?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoCan I go wrong with a simple buzz cut?
I'm thinking of trying a simple DIY hairstyle, but never had it before so I'm a bit scared. 4 on top, three on sides, and a 2 taper on the bottom
1 AnswerHair6 years agoWhere to sit in the cafeteria on the first day of college?
This is a bit embarrassing, but one of my biggest fears of college is in the cafeteria. I'm going to a small 3 year male only college of only 250 students, and everyone is required to live there during the week, so all three grades eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. In high school, I would always sit at the first table I see a friend. Here, I won't even know anybody, and I don't find out my roommate til the first day so it's not like he's going to be my friend either. I just don't know what to expect, especially since I may by chance sit at a table that a group of now upperclassman sat last year.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoDIY mens haircuts?
During high school I got one haircut a year, so going to a stylist wasn't an issue, but in college I plan to keep my hair short.
I don't really feel like going and paying for a haircut every 2 weeks, so I was trying to think of something DIY. I have pretty good hair clippers at home although I never used them before. At first I was planning to hack off all my hair with a number 3 buzz cut, but people advised against it, especially because I have a larger head with a larger forehead and a widows peak.
So pretty much I have clippers, myself, and my dad, all with no haircut experience except simple butches. I also need something to somewhat compensate for my big forehead/ widows peak if possible.
Someone suggested I buzz all my hair with a number 6 or 7 guard, then go back and do just the sides and back with a 2 or 3. That sounds pretty easy and good to try, but does anyone else recommend that or have any other ideas?

1 AnswerHair7 years agoShould I get a buzz cut (butch)?
I'm a guy starting college, and it's a bit funny that I'm actually worried about this. Anyway, my hair has always been on the longer side since I was about 10. Throughout high school I would have 1-2 haircuts a year, and I would get shorter scissored cuts at like a $10 haircut place. My last haircut was in September and my hairs about 8" long now.
Anyway, I'm looking to cut my hair short again to enjoy for the rest of summer and have a fresh look at the beginning of college. I'm highly looking into getting a number 3 buzz cut all around, because my dad has them already to cut my brothers hair. I'm a bit nervous though because I haven't had a buzz cut within atleast 10 years, my hairs currently long, I have a big head and forehead, and I looked "goofy" with it when I was younger.
A lot of people suggested a barber styled cut, and maybe I'll consider it for future haircuts, but right now my two options are butch or $10 trim. I was thinking butch, because either way, any short haircut will attract a lot of attention, may look bad, will feel different... But a butch would cost me nothing and I assume it would just take a few weeks of growth to style it differently if I don't like it. I will still be exposed to the public obviously, but college is 5 weeks away.
So what do you hair people think?
2 AnswersHair7 years agoIs it weird to text a girl randomly?
There's a girl that I don't know too well, I've seen her at a few parties. I was thinking about texting her as a "hey, how you doin" kind of thing. She has a boyfriend so it's not like I'm trying to hit on her, I'm just kinda bored haha
2 AnswersFriends7 years agoShould I skip out on senior week due to my future schools alcohol policy?
I got into a top technical college where I am going to get a free education, free room and board, and free food. My education is worth about $40,000 a year.
I'm supposed to go to senior week with some buddies. I don't know if all regions have a "senior week", but it's basically a vacation seniors go on for a week after we graduate, and there's usually heavy alcohol and drug use.
I'm concerned because my school has a strict alcohol policy. I honest to God don't drink or do drugs, I don't like it, but I can get in trouble for just being associated with alcohol. If the house got busted and I get in trouble regardless of being sober, I would likely be thrown out of the school.
I already paid for senior week but it won't be a huge loss. I'm wondering though if I should still go or if it wouldn't be worth the small risk.

1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education7 years agoHow dumb is Michael Pineda to cheat twice?
I'm a fan of neither teams, but he knew people were onto him using pine tar the last time he played. I don't know how he thought he can get away with it again against the same team. If you cheated and people noticed it the first time, would you do it again the next game against the same team? Did he really not think people would be focusing on him the whole game?
11 AnswersBaseball7 years agoIs it bad to put premium gas in an engine that takes regular?
I have a few friends that put premium gas in their lawn mowers and lawn equipment that take regular fuel, not higher octane. They randomly assume that just because it costs more it's some kind of miracle fuel. They say the only difference is that it doesn't have as much ethanol. But I know it has a higher octane rating, and I'm wondering if this higher octane actually does damage to their engine?
