My family just adopted a 18 month old Standard Poodle on Oct. 31. His story is he was bought from a breeder for the purpose of being a show dog. His previous owners then proceeded to have a baby and found out that they could not handle the 2. They brought him to the pound and we adopted him. He has an awesome temperament. He is totally comfortable at home... when we are at home with him, and is comfortable with other dogs. We left him alone for 45 minutes one night to see what his reaction would be. Well he had an accident in my parents room and peed in our dining room. Well we were frustrated and couldn't think of what to do. My dad went out and bought a kennel. It's huge. My mom and the dog can sit in there comfortably. He took to the kennel quite quickly. He slept through the night last night and is fine in it. My mom left for work today and put him in the kennel. She left the radio on because we thought that the voices would be comforting. She came home after an hour and a half to check on him, to her surprise she found him out of the kennel. She went to the kennel and found the bars on it bent, some broken, and the door bent open. Now this isn't a easy thing to do. My dad had a hard time bending the bars back! It is a miracle he wasn't hurt! He got away with a small scratch on his nose. We can't figure out how he fit in the hole to get out. We really need a solution. My dad is gone all day. My mom works 3 days a week and my brother and I go to school all day. We need to figure out an alternative solution to our problem. Any answers are welcome.
