  • OBD@ scanner not reading the vin off a 2001 sable dohc?

MY sisters sable is not starting so I thought before I start chasing my tail, I would hook up to the OBD and run a scan. No codes! No vin I just get a vin -. I tried the scanner on my subaru and it read fine, and I also tried my GF's taurus(1999) and it came up vehicle does not support vin(which makes sense since I thought it was 200 that they started doing vins). My thinking is the PCM. NOw I need to check the fuse for it under the hood, which I will this weekend, but shouldn't the OBD2 scanner tool pick up the vin on a 2001 sable?

  • PCS quick struts, anyone ever hear of these?

I found some replacement quick struts by PCS. I have never heard of this brand but after doing some research, I found out that monroe and raybestes are made in various places. So it seems like a lot of stuff from china no matter what you order. Anyone ever try these PCS struts? Or should I roll the dice and get the monroe eco quick struts?

  • heater core hose leak?

The hoses from the water pump to the heater core are leaking. The car is a 1989 celebrity with a v6 and ac. My question is where can I get OEM replacement hoses? I already looked at the big box stores and rockauto. The issue is that these line are steel tubular and attach directly to the water pump via a flange. I am going to replace the 3/4" line with rubber(jerry rig) but if the 5/8" side goes next I will need that part. Any ideas other then the dealer? And forget the junkyards...after 23 years a used line I don't think I could trust!

  • is the maverick 88 a good 12 ga shotgun for home defense?

I am looking for a descent 12 ga and I found this maverick 88(made in the USA) for about 200 dollars. Now I know that its basically a mossberg 500 but I really don't see the need to spend $500 on a shotgun. All I want is something that good and reliable.

  • Is 20k for a new non turbo impreza too much?

My cousin just bought a new 2012 impreza and paid 20500 for it. I thought that was too much money. I know I have seen Legacy's for sub 20k so to hear he got a non turbo(either base i or prem) for that price seems like he got a bad deal.....any thoughts?

  • Dealer is saying that my 2008 legacy needs a timing belt?

as part of routine maintenance(60k maintenance)...the owners manual says 105k but the dealer keeps saying...here in Chicago the heat and cold make them break down. I personally think they are trying to get me to spend money on repairs that are not needed. Has anyone had any issues with their timing belt in mid western conditions?

  • Where can I get Subaru Legacy 2.5i Special Edition Performance parts?

I just bought an '08 Legacy 2.5i Special Edition and I am just looking at whats out there to add a little more performance to my car when the warrenty is up. I can find the GT parts easily, but do they make anything for the 2.5i? Oh, and if you are thinking about the Legacy....buy it! This car is so solid and handles better then any car I have ever had! Since I am asking questions.....anyone got any opinions on good performance all season tires?
