  • Tinea Versicolor passed on during childbirth?

I have Tinea Versicolor (an over-growth of yeast normally found in the hair follicles and oil glands) it is supposedly not contagious and I have to say after being with the same man for over 9 years, I would have to agree because he does not have it, BUT my 19 month old daughter does. It has not been confirmed by doctor, but it looks exactly like what I have. I will be speaking with her Doc about this, but was wondering if any of you have kids with Tinea Versicolor? It does not seem to bother her and it is barely even noticable, but it is on her face, right on the sides and on her fore-head, just small little spots that are visible in bright light like the sun. I do not have it on my face and I am worried that it may spread and be a superficial nuasance to her later in life. I am certain that this was passed on to her in the womb or during delivery, but I had a C-section so it was most likely in the womb. It is frustrating that modern medicine knows so little about it and they insist it is not contagious, but obviously it is, whether genetically or some other way. My parents don't have it, so it is puzzling. But my daughter and I do, hmmm? I have read that certain medicines such as steroids and birth control can trigger the yeast to go all crazy on the skin. I have had this for so long that I don't know if I was taking steroids when it first appeared but I know I was not on Birth Control. This condition has been around for well over a hundred years in the medical books and all they seem to know is what I have outlined here. Doctors don't always have the best answers, so I was hoping some of you know something they don't. I know what treats it and as I said I will be discussing this with her doctor. Most of the treatments are kind of questionable when used in adults let alone children, so I guess I am hoping for a natural remedy that will not break the bank. If there is any thing you can offer to give me insight on this matter I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance for any good responses. Yours Truly, Itchy in Tennessee.... :)
