  • Strong sense of smell on low carb. diet?

Has anyone noticed an increased sense of smell while on a low carb diet such as Atkins or South Beach? I've been on the Atkins induction phase for five days and today my sense of smell has been very strong. I went to a fair and didn't break my diet, but I have been driven by smell since then... I was leaning in to one booth because the smell of candy apples was so strong to me despite the popcorn right next to it which I didn't notice must. I could distinguish between all the smells of the foods there and then went shopping at Wal-Mart and smelled something with cinnamon and vanilla, then nuts, then I smelled brown sugar and walked on to the next aisle and there it was. Just strange so thought I would ask. Perhaps my body was just craving these specific things so it pinpointed the smells.

  • Clinical Psychology programs, Walden verus Fielding?

I hope to start my PhD in Clinical Psychology but am torn between two universities, Walden and Fielding. There are frequent travel requirements for face-to-face sessions and conferences with both schools which I like because at this level you need that interaction. What I am confused with is that Fielding is APA accredited but Walden is not, however under the states guidelines that I have looked into, APA accreditation is not necessary so long the program includes a set list of courses. Our school psychologist also graduate from Walden. Fielding is my top choice but they take in so few that I was honestly thinking of taking a few courses with Walden over the summer then applying for Fielding and hopefully transferring the credits.

  • Previous and current students, please rate experience with Fielding University.?

I am looking into Fielding's Clinical Psychology PhD program but not sure how the tuition rates and frequent travel will add up financially and in time consumption. Also, was career placement easy once you graduated? Any other information would be greatly appreciated from past experiences. I know they typically only take 1 out of every 4 or 5 applicants as well.

  • Can teachers be required to tutor?

I have been working under a sub. contract since the start of the year and I put in nearly 12 hours a day teaching and doing prep work with no planning period during the day and at least two days a week I do not have a lunch break. Now the principal is telling parents that I will tutor, do teachers not have any rights?

  • Survey for anyone who has taken an online course...?

    Questions for students:

    1. Looking at your experience as a traditional student and your experiences in an online program, what, if any, are the biggest challenges to learning online?

    2. Do you feel your professors have enough time to personally help you when you need it?

    3. Do you have access to a tutor or a program that helps you with any questions you have in your learning?

    4. If yes, are these tutors or programs sufficient and it not what could be done to make them more reliable?

    5. Where do you typically go when you are confused with any of the course work and do you receive an appropriate response time?

Does anyone know if there is a regulation in the Army that allows a certain amount of time for lunch breaks for a certain amount of hours worked a day? If so what is the regulation?

  • American Airlines problem...?

I am flying with American Airlines and on my way here, they did forget to transfer my suitcase and child's car seat so I had to wait on that. I did not complain. However, today I drive all the way to the airport and the guy is in the process of checking me in when I hear people talking about Dallas and I asked what was wrong with Dallas since I change flights there and he tells me my flight is severly late and I'll miss the other flight I was suppose to be on. I suppose he was just going to not tell me this big issue here until after he had my luggage and I'm SOL. Anyways... I had to rebook for tomorrow and the previous reservations I had it was just my daughter and I on a 2 seat row which is great because I get nervous on flights and hate sitting next to a stranger. This other flight, the first flight we are sitting next to a stranger which I'll settle for if I must, but they are not promising me a seat next to my 4 year once I change planes! Should I ask for 1st class, what do I do?

  • What is the legality here?

On Monday I received a letter from AAFES saying I owed them $425 and that a collection agency was placed on me. I was shocked as I rarely shop at the BX/PX and I know I have never spent that much money there. So I called ASAP and they told me a check I had cashed from University back in September 2005 didn't go through because the bank was unable to read their writing on the check. I told them this sounded very strange and that I should have been notified of this before now, especially after they messed with my credit score permantly in the action they have taken. They said they did try to contact me back in October 2006 (13 months after the fact) but I never received anything from them. Then they said it was my fault for cashing a check with them, but at the location we were at was overseas and that was the only place you could cash checks. It seems that they are wrong here for waiting nearly 2 years to let me know and the action they took was drastic since they never told me.

  • Bad tune-up?

When I first moved to my current location I was using one auto repair shop until I noticed my car was worse every time they "fixed" it. After a tune-up in July I noticed that my display lights for the time and station information would sometimes make a click noise then I wouldn't be able to see the time or anything... also I have had the brake light stick here and there. My Suzuki was also not idling right always and sometimes felt as if it were going to stall. Well come today I turn the car on the check engine light was on. I took it to Suzuki this time because this other place also messed up my brakes.. and Suzuki told me I needed a tune up because some of the spark plugs were not working right.. I told them I just had one and they looked and said that the wrong spark plugs were put on. This other place says they won't cover it since I had someone else fix it plus they claim on the phone they weren't the wrong ones (I have the ones they used) Do these problems come from bad tune-up

  • Hybrid vehicles?

Does anyone here drive a hybrid? I know there are a couple of SUV's out there that are hybrids and I was wondering if they suffer in performance and power since they are hybrids. Also... do they really get the mpg that is advertised?

I'm thinking about a Mazda CX-9 or Buick Redezvous which are not offered as hyrbids.. but I figure I should look into the more environmental friendly vehicles as well if they are up to standards.

  • New vehicle.. which is best?

I am looking to buy a new vehicle this fall and I'm not sure which vehicle usually lasts the longest and is better overall. I really like the Buick Redezvous and my grandmother has an older one, it drove well. I also like the Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee, and the Chrysler Pacifica. Any other ideas?

  • Exercise does not help?

I read this article on Yahoo today and I just don't believe it!!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070126/hl_nm/diet_exe...

It seems to contradict what every doctor and nutritionist says. Basically it says exercise doesn't help you lose weight any more than diet alone. Also says it doesn't help you with certain areas of the body either... I just don't believe this article.

  • Can working out too much cause weight gain?!?

I watch what I eat closely during the weekdays and workout every day. This weekend we out for Italian and I had wine so I worked out extra on Saturday and I had the left overs from my pasta on Sunday (divided the meal in two so wouldn't eat it all at the restaurant) and I worked out extra on Sunday as well. Today I see I gained two pounds... what caused this? Does working out too much lead to weight gain?

  • Black eye??

My 4 year old hit her head on the coffee table and when I first looked it looked like she hit her left temple.. then an hour later it was a little swollen above the left eye. Now she is kind of tired.. could be from playing or not taking a nap yesterday, don't know. Beyond that she is acting normal but the left eye.. the upper part around the eye brow is swollen and bruised. Do I just keep an eye on her and what should I watch for? My husband isn't worried, but I'm always a paranoid mom.

  • Ab lounge...?

I've been doing the Ab Lounge for 2 weeks but have not seen any results yet. Yesterday was the first and only break that I have had from it. How much time should I spend on it a day, how many of the different exercises should I do, and how long til you saw any results and if satisfied now how long did it take you to get to that point.

  • In the movie...?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest... when Jack Sparrow was leaving the ship behind because it was under attack and he looked at the compass and it was pointing back in that direction so he went back to fight... my friend says the compass was pointing to the ship because that is what he wanted but I say the compass was pointing to the girl because he was in love with her. Which is it? I mean, he can be pretty ruthless but throughout the movie he seemed to be breaking down a little bit in her presence.
