How much of the money added to the deficit under President Obama was meant to address the Great Recession?
And how much of it was actually caused by his administration alone (as opposed to, say, Congress or the Federal Reserve)? And how does this compare with what President Bush spent before the Great Recession?
Thanks for providing numbers and sources if possible.
3 AnswersElections9 years agoIs Mitt Romney intimidated by Paul Ryan?
I suspect Romney knows Ryan is smarter and more impressive than he is, and could overshadow him on the ticket (as arguably he already has, judging from TV coverage).
I suspect his announcement of Ryan's nomination as "the next President of the US" (instead of VP) was a Freudian slip, if you know what I mean.

Does money ever disappear (inflation put aside), or does it only change hands?
If so, where did the banks' money go?
3 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoIs SARAH PALIN the final chapter of the Republican party as we know it?
Cronyism and corruption:
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoCan Gov. PALIN answer substantive questions she doesn't LIKE?
Fact: she clearly avoided a good number of questions during the debate.

Thomas Friedman seems to think so, and I suspect he is right! You can see for yourself: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/opinion/14friedm...
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoDo republicans wish Palin was on top of the ticket now?
Is it me, or was McCain pretty lame?
3 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs Sarah Palin a farce, a subterfuge or George W Bush in stilettos?
"The difficulty for the Republican ticket in talking about change and reform and acting like insurgents is that they have been running Washington — the White House and Congress — for most of the last eight years." New York Times Editorial, Running Against Themselves, September 3, 2008.
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoCan Palin write two memoirs, let alone her own speech?
Her speech tonight was written by Matthew Scully, who met Palin for the first time last week.

5 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat does Lieberman sound like? A deflated tire or what?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhich is worse: extreme RIGHT (fascists), or extreme LEFT (anarchists)?
Don't say both are bad, because all reasonable people know that, and that's not the point.
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do republicans refuse to sacrifice their wallets for country but call on kids to sacrifice their lives?
To me, it seems that life is worth more than money, so if one thinks that country is not worth spending on, then it is certainly not worth dying for. But republicans would rather kill, die or see dead than pay taxes for "the country." Am I oversimplifying?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoMcCain tax cuts for the wealthy more expensive than Obama tax cuts for the middle class?
Those who know say yes:
"Mr. McCain's tax plan would give those in the bottom fifth of income an average tax cut of $21 in 2009. The middle fifth would get $325 -- less than a third of the Obama cut. The wealthiest taxpayers make out terrifically."
"The country can't afford the tax cuts either man is promising, although Mr. McCain's approach is by far the more costly."
