What are your criteria for determining if a piece of music is classical or not?
Just curious as to what the prevailing opinion is here. I see that some questions here are getting dismissed or are garnering unhelpful responses because the music in question isn't "classical."
Specifically, what musical and extra-musical characteristics distinguish a piece of classical music from a instrumental popular song, at least in your opinion?
