  • Need advice on Child Immunizations, please help!?

My son is due for his 2 month immunizations, and there is a new immunization listed this year, it is called RV, which immunizes against Rotovirus. I have been looking online and have read up on it; but I am still concerned. I know that for a period in the 90's levels of murcury (when taking all recomended vaccines) resulted in increased cases of autism (from 1 in 2,500 to 1 in 166). Since this is a new vaccine there hasn't been enough time to go by to show any developemental issues that may arise from it. The vaccine basically immunizes children from getting something that every child gets anyway (severe diarea). Rotovirus can be lethal (60-80 deaths a year due to dehydration in infants), and there are high cases of doctor vistis and hospitilazations. I can see the benefits of having the vaccine; but I am not sure about the risks involved since it is such a new vaccine. Can anyone shed some light on this vaccine so I can decide if I should have my son vacinated with RV or not?

  • How do I identify an insect?

My husband found this really creepy looking insect in our backyard, and we can't figure out what type of insect it is. We both don't know enough about insects to be able to correctly identity it using the identification guides on various websites. Does anyone know of any good sites to go to for someone that does not know much about insects?

  • What is the best way to airbrush with watercolor based colors on canvas?

I am working on a new airbrush project, and normally I just use illustration board so frisket normally works fine as a masking material. This project is much larger than I can get in illustration board, so I have a canvas that I am working on.

I have done some research and most seem to only pertain to airbrushing with acrylic paint. I want to use the watercolor becuase of the look I am going for.

My main problem is that I tried using Frisket as the masking material; but it did not want to stick all that well. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do for masking material on canvas?

  • How do I donate to a public cord blood bank?

I am due in about 4 weeks, and have been interested in Cord Blood Banking for research developement purposes. All of the private banks cost to much (insurance will not cover it) and most of the time it is held for your personal use, not to be used for research or to help others in need. I want to donate my baby's cord blood to a public bank (which is free and gets used to help others in need and/or for research). I have come up against a brick wall when trying to find a way to donate as there are no public banks in my area. Does anyone know of a way to donate to a public bank if it is out of your area? If you know of any that are in the central valley of California that would be helpful as well.

  • Has anyone heard of Access for Mothers and Infants or AIM?

It seems like a really good program if you make too much money to qualify for Medi-cal, and it is really inexpensive considering what it costs.

Well my sister sent me their application package; but I don't know how to qualify. If I was going to stay unmarried through-out the pregnancy I can figure that out; but the information provided does not address whether you count your future husbands income or not. It shows you obvioucly need to count your income and that of your husband; but not your partner unless you are living in the same household. I am planning on getting married in a month or two and want to start applying for the coverage now; but don't want to cause any problems later.

Is anyone fimiliar with this program and what I should do? I am going to call their office when they are open; but I wanted to know if anyone out there knew the answer. Please help. Thanks!!! :-)
