I'm NOT trained in anything other than life. When I do put myself into something it's for the whole 9 yards. I started messing with computers in 2005 and was building high end custom PC's for allsorts by 2007. I learn by trial and error. I currently work as IT support for various firms. I don't mind being emailed questions, Just don't shoot me If I don't know the answer. Don't take life too seriously or you'll miss all the bits worth seeing!

  • Is this legal Can they do this?

This year I decided to change insurance companies as my premium had gone up by £200. I found a deal and went for it. I paid in full on my credit card.

A few weeks later I checked my card to find they had taken and extra £92. When I rang they said it was because I had made a claim that I did not inform them of. This is a lie as I told them about the claim. ( it was only for a window which does not effect no claims ).

My point is I'm sure companies are not allowed to hold card details? and if they are I'm pretty sure they can't just take money without first contacting me right? They did refund the payment but this is not the point.

Can anyone shed some light on this? is it worth going to an ombudsman or small claims court?

    Thanks

  • Hi there, I have a problem with a wireless connection.?

    Hi there,

I have a problem with a wireless connection. One of my lads in the field as it were cannot connect via wireless to his router. let me bring you up to speed.

We pay for his internet. We set up all routers before sending them to our sales guys. We test them all before they leave here. I have now sent 4 different routers to that particular person and for some reason he cannot connect to the wireless part. If he uses ethernet he can get online and I can proxy into his machine no problems. yet nothing. including his ipod, personal laptop and works laptop can connect to the wireless.

By default the SSID is hidden by us. there is a WEP 64bit hex encryption. I have disabled all security( for test purposes) set it to broadcast the SSID but nothing seems to work.

4 routers seems to say its NOT the routers problem. but I find it hard to believe 2 laptops and an ipod that all have and issue that stops them from connecting especially when they can connect at say....Mcwrongalds. any idea's? would be gratefully accepted.

    thanks in advance
