im planning a trip with 3 or 4 adults and two dogs for the porkies in the UP of Michigan. im having some trouble figuring out how to carry all the dog food im going to need for a week and a half for the 60 lb and a 40 lb doggys. both are pitbull mixes, and the larger one is used to carrying some weight in a backpack on shorter trips.

Does anyone have any advice on carrying that much food, how to divide it up, how much could i let the dogs carry etc.

the terrain is slightly rugged and we as humans will be taking frequent rests, as will the dogs. but i want them to carry as much as possible because our packs are going to be pretty full as well. i just dont want this to be a deathmarch for them lol. any help/tips is excellent, thanks!

me and some friends are going to be backpacking in the upper peninsula of Michigan this summer. i've gone backpacking before, but never with the dog. does anyone have any tips or ideas that would make this a better trip? i've made him a doggie backpack that can hold some of his stuff and mine... but so far thats really it.

since we may be going to isle royale, ive heard there are wolves. should i leave him in the tent with me at night? or leave him tied out? i know to keep him leashed when walking and basic rules of picking up after him etc. but im blank on the rest.
