  • Lenovo H520s-32 Vs Dell XPS 8500 (i5)?

I need a new pc (desktop) I generally use it for internet and microsoft office but I also use it for world of warcraft.

I am looking at these 2 pcs:

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.as...

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-h520s-32-desk...

Which is best? I don't use it for any other gaming and I am currently using an intel celeron 1545 (which seems to make everyone in the pc business feel a bit sick when I mention it)

Now the main issue for me is the graphics card... Can I add another graphics card to the Lenovo (with standard)? and I understand the Lenovo is an older processor, is that an issue? also will the Intel HD graphics card already in there play WoW? - i don't want it on super high def or anything (lets be honest anything is better than the thing I have now which will play it and this is 3 years old)

I don't use masses of memory, 500 is enough for me (my current one is 218 apparently) but I cant help feel a little...cheated.... by the lack of spec for the price of the Lenovo when compared to the dell, but Dell are terrible are they not? I have issues with Dell already which makes me dubious about buying from them again, I have one now and within 6 months some keys stopped working and it wouldnt recognise it was being charged. When I phoned up the guy on the other end simply told me that if it stopped working correctly i should buy a better one and it was my fault it stopped working and put the phone down! That was the only time I managed to get hold of someone. My friend is also now having the same issues which makes me worry that it is a common thing....

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

  • Why does the mode not change on RAT 7?

I have just bought a R.A.T 7 gaming mouse from Cyborg. Those who know of this model will know what I am on about next....

I have set up my different profiles/modes, however when I go in to assign X profile to X mode, it automatically jumps to mode 1 and then makes all modes that specific profile. As an example I wanted mode 1 (red) to be damage in world of warcraft, and then mode 2 (blue) to be healing in the same game. Having clicked on the correct mode and input the keybindings etc and saved the healing, it turned back to mode 1 and had turned all 3 modes into healing (including the one that I hadn't even programmed!) I tried putting my damage profile into mode 1 again and it turned all 3 modes into damage lol

Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong? Obviously I don't want to be using my keyboard for all the buttons except 3 on an expensive mouse, it would be easier to go back to entire keyboard usage!

If anyone can help I would be most grateful!

  • How to become a Midwife with no A levels?

I'm 26 and want to persue my career of choice - I want to become a Midwife, once my youngest child goes to school fulltime next September (2012.) I was unable to stay in education past my GCSEs due to me having to become a carer to my mother.

Obviously I don't have A levels which I know you need to go to Uni and do the course. I'm also not in the best place regarding excess cash at the moment to be able to spend thousands on courses.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get into the profession? I've heard of a course called "access to healthcare" (I'm in the UK) however I cant find any info on this!

Any info on what I need would be great!

    Thanks

  • Do think think child beauty comps are damaging?

I was watching a program this week about "mini miss uk"... do you think entering a young child into something like that is damaging?

no doubt for the winner it is excellent, but what about for all those children who spent hours being dyed a fab shade of tea bag brown and wearing more makeup than lily savage to end up not being placed?

some of those parents seemed so pushy for their young children to enter forcing them to train and in short not see themselves as beautiful enough unless they plastered them in make up from the 99p store. i don't think neon pink "enhances" anything except blindness!

surely those children forced to enter and ultimately losing will be psychologically damaged by the experience. one girl said "if i don't win i will think im not beautiful enough." she didn't win so how did that make her feel.

are these "pushy parents" so obsessed with it their selves that they do not see the issues they cause for their children? fair enough if the child is old enough to understand and actually wants to do it fine let them but to make them????

every child is beautiful at the end of the day. is it fair to subject them to adult scrutinising for such shallow things as a plastic crown and being crowned beauty queen out of the few other kids that are there?

  • CBBC Presenter scary?

A cbbc presenter has been complained about because she is missing the lower half of her arm due to a birth defect.

These compaining parents believe she shouldnt be on the tv because she "scares" their children.

Is it me or do you think if the parents of the children explained the situation they would no longer be scared?

Children need to be educated on differences and disabilities not shielded from them because their parents wont or cant explain the issues.

I explain anything my daughter askes me and will my son when the time comes, i explain why people are in wheelchairs so she can understand for example (shes 3 so normally "their legs are porely" works fine in her eyes) and also why people look different. A well rouded adult is the result of a well rounded childhood.

    what are your thoughts?

  • Hard question about Family sirname?

This is really hard to explain but ill do my best!

i recently got married and took my husbands sirname - brooks.

well afterwards i found out that his dads sirname at birth was not brooks but wallbank (his mum wasnt married so he took her name at birth.) at the age of 12 his name suddenly changed to brooks (his stepdads name), the only record of it has been found in his gp record from 1962 (the date it was advised in the drs), his birth cert is in wallbank, and there has never been any "legal" documentation to say that his name has been legally changed, however his national insurance number is in the name of brooks as is his old style driving licence. he recently went to change to the new photocard licence and was asked for proof of his name change.....well there isnt any, apart from the details in his drs there are no documents to be found by anyone! so how can all his legal stuff like NI number be in the name brooks?

does anyone know who we can contact to try and sort it out?

also does that make marriages and sirnames of children void?

when my father in law got married the first time we cant work out what he gave as proof of id in the name brooks as his birth cert is in wallbank and he cant get a passport because of this issue so it wasnt that either!! so does this make his marriage to my mother in law void as technically the person hes known as doesnt legally exist? and so does that make my husbands name legally wallbank and so our kids? or is it because brooks was written on the birth cert thats all that matters?

The only 2 people that knew how the change was done are both dead, it has never been a problem before now so we are really confused about why all of a sudden its an issue and hadnt asked about how it was done before!

i know its all a bit strange and baffling!

  • Missing Top Model - TV

Did anyone who followed the program about a "disabled" person becoming a model think that Sophie (i think that was her name), the girl in the wheelchair was a little ignorant?

She claimed to be a "role model" for people but in the next sentace was basically saying the others in the house were less disabled and so less worthy to become a model. She didn't seem to take the differences in the disabilties into consideration; if the disability was not in your face then it seemed like it wasnt a real disability to her.

Did anyone feel the same? how can someone class themselves as a role model, promoting awareness of disabilities when she believed that basically unless you cant walk you arent disabled?!

before anyone says i dont know what its like in a wheelchair, my mum was in a wheel chair for some time after having a stroke, she couldnt do anything by herself, we had to push her around in the chair, we had to feed her, dress her, take her to the toilet etc and to make matters worse she couldnt speak either so we had to second guess everything!

Do you think maybe it was just a case of she was so furious at being unable to walk that she took her emotions out on others to make them feel 1. more sorry for her and 2. less entitled to call themselves disabled?

  • Your family has been kidnapped...a hard question?

I thought of possibly one of the hardest questions and answers a couple nights ago....What would your answer be to this (its theoretical so just go with it lol)

Your whole family including you have been kidnapped.

The kidnappers have agreed to release you and only 1 other person. The rest will be shot and killed.

Who will you choose to escape with you and why?

Your family is as follows -

    Mum

    Dad

    Grandmother

    Grandfather

    Partner

Your child (primary school/1st school age)

    Your child (toddler)

    Your child (baby)

Im just interested in the answers people would give. It really got me thinking.

Sorry for giving a bizaar question lol

  • how to make sure milk comes in on time?

hi, im due my 2nd baby in about 6 weeks. the question i have is; how can i make sure my milk comes in on time? last time i tried to breast feed my daughter and i had absoultly naff all (not even colostrum) until approx 5 days. the midwife tried to help for the first 2 days but only suceeded in making me bleed after which i gave up and gave my daughter a bottle as she was howling for food (the midwife still said i should have tried longer) once my milk came in i tried to breast feed her again but she wasnt interested.

so, does any one have any ideas on how i can try to make sure its on time this time? my midwife said just to relax and it will. anyone had this happen and got any tips? oh if it makes any difference its a c-section so i know im not going to have all the racing hormones which probably wont help! i do plan on skin to skin contact asap after birth also.

  • what happened?

Hi, I had a c-section last november and i just have one question (i know it sounds silly but the doc wouldnt talk about it)

I had a spinal and about 5 minutes after it was done i was laying on the bed and i started to feel really hot, like i was sun bathing, i then felt sick and i dont remember much except a fuzzy drunk feeling and machines starting beeping. I then heard a midwife calling me and feeling like a bucket of ice cold water was chucked over me and i sucked in a deep breath and then was fine! it happened again in theatre and according to my hubby i turned grey and the bloke at my head started pumping something into my drip which didnt work so then tried a white liquid?

did i pass out or something? im gathering thats what it was but as i havent knowingly passed out before and my doc wouldnt say anything its still bugging m

  • why are women after a c-section on tv always in wheelchairs?!?

This is a real bug bare of mine. I had a c-section last november and the evening after i had my daughter i was up and walking (on doctors orders!) and 48 hours after i had her i left the hospital on my own two feet and was doing housework at home (only because my hubby was too lazy to do it!). Without the aid of a wheelchair!

Is the whole wheelchair thing on tv just to make it look like the women are in so much pain and unable to walk or is there another meaning, i admit most the programs i have seen are from america so maybe the uk has a different policy?

When i saw it before my c-section i was scared stiff thinking my god im going to be helpless for ages when in reality its not half as bad as they make it out. what are your views on the use of wheelchairs? obviously after a very bad birth or if you had complications in your pregnancy it might be needed so im certainly not saying they should be banned!

  • what should i use?

I have psoriasis and it makes the skin in my t-zone like scales. I have been advised to use an efolating face wash and to use heavy moisturiser however this still doesnt do much. although it takes off the top layer the underneath is almost as dry as the top and the moisturier wont sink in, just leaves me slick! it also affects my scalp. what do you think i should do to get rid of it besides using an angle grinder! i cant use foundation at all because is creases and catches in the scales! I have hydrocorisone cream which i dont want to use too often if i can help it.

  • Should I complain?

I banged my mouth early this year and the swelling was terrible. I couldnt eat, move my mouth or sleep and was in constant pain. One of the doctors I saw at the hospital in torbay a&e said "oh we have been talking about you. its just swelling go home" he didnt look at my mouth or anything, just said that sentance and left. In the end it took 4 visits to hospital and 2 visits to the doctors, 6 x-rays, 2 lots of anti inflamitories, diclofenac, liquid morphine and 2 lots of antibiotics to find out i had an absess!!! By this time I had to have my gums cut open and teeth removed and was asked to stay in hospital on an IV antibiotic drip because the infection had got so bad. If the doctor at the hospital had listened to me to begin with ( i knew it wasnt "just swelling") I wouldnt have ended up on morphine and having all that dental work. Do you think I should complain as he obviously didn't care. What if someone gets really ill because he couldnt be bothered to check them out?
