  • Do you know a child with traumatic brain injury, seizure disorder, cerebral palsy, or spinal cord disorder?

Hi! I am a college student working towards a dual major in Special & Elementary Education. I am currently taking a class on Educating Students with Physical and Health Impairments. I am writing a paper on TBI, but student teaching opportunities are limited during the summer semester. I would greatly appreciate any information that you can provide to help me learn as a parent, teacher, or other education or health professional. Thank you so much for your help!

Describe the effects of this disorder on the child.

What are some specific challenges that this child faces as a result?

Describe some treatment and rehabilitation options.

Does the child's school offer any assistance or financial support?

  • Are you a science teacher?

I am a college student working on a degree in Elementary/Special Education. I am currently taking Curriculum and Methods: Science. I have a few questions about integrated study. If you have some time to please answer a few questions, I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much for your help!

What unit of study did you integrate with different subjects to support one specific theme?

What subjects where integrated and how were they integrated?

What supplies/handouts, if any, did you use?

Was this unit successful? If so, what made it successful?

Would you try this approach again in the future? Why or why not?

How could you have made this unit of study more successful/engaging?

  • How has a visual or hearing impairment impacted your or your child's development and academic achievement?

I am a student working towards a degree in Special & Elementary Education. I am writing a paper about the impact of visual and/or hearing impairments on a person's development and academic achievements. Parents and individuals with personal experiences often have a wealth of information and advice and I would love the opportunity to learn from you! Thank you for helping me with this information!

Some of the things I would like to know include:

How do you feel your (or your child's) development was impacted by a visual or hearing impairment?

Is there a specific service or opportunity that you received that you feel was especially helpful to your (or your child's) development?

Is there a service or opportunity that you wish would have been made available to yourself (or your child) that was not available at the time?

How do you feel your (or your child's) academic achievement was impacted by a visual or hearing impairment?

How did the schools evaluate your (or your child's) needs?

What did the school do to meet your (or your child's) educational needs?

Is there something that an educator did for you (or your child) that you felt was especially helpful in the classroom?

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for strategies or practices to use in the classroom for a future educator hoping to work with students that have visual or hearing impairments?

    (3) How is a meaningful learning experience for students related to your personal teaching philosophy of education?

    (4) Why did you want to become a teacher? Why do you continue to teach?

    (5) What are two or three of your most rewarding teaching experiences? Most challenging?

  • As a parent of a special needs child, what changes have you seen in the education system over the last 20 yrs?

I am a college student working towards a dual major in special/elementary education. For our final project, we need to interview an attorney about changes in the special education laws over the last 20 years, but many of the attorneys that I contacted are fairly new to the practice and can only tell me what is already in my textbooks. I would love to get some opinions from parents who have experienced it! Thank you for your help!

  • How do I find a pediatrician that specializes in breastfed babies?

We moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area (from Wisconsin) two weeks after my baby was born. He is 6 months now and I have been less than impressed with the pediatrican we've been seeing (not to mention, the doctor we interviewed is never the doctor we actually see). How do I find a doctor who specializes in breastfed babies, because the doctor we've been given at our appointments doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable on the topic. Thanks!!

  • What's wrong with my 2001 Ford Escort??

On Saturday, I just had all four tie rods replaced, the transmission fluid flushed, the coolant flushed, the oil changed, the AC charged, and the serpentine belt replaced. All in all, it cost over $700, but now the major problem is that the car doesn't start sometimes. I try to start it and it just makes a single click noise. I wiggle the shifter (automatic) a little a couple of times and eventually it starts. However, it doesn't do this every time I try to start the car. It is hit or miss, sometimes even going days without any starting issues. Starter? Neutral Start Switch? Circuit Board? Any ideas as to what the problem really is before I spend a ton of money that may or may not fix the problem??

  • Should the mommy-to-be have a say in the shower decorations?

My mother-in-law is suppose to be planning a baby shower for my husband and I, together with my mother. The shower is not a surprise and I made the invitations and M&M party favor boxes. She is insisting on doing the decorations by herself with no say from any of us, including my mom. We recommended some ducky decorations that my husband and I had picked out at the party store and she said that her and her sister had already taken care of it. I feel that she should have discussed this with my mother since they are co-hosting the shower and my husband and I. My parents even bought her dinner and brought a list of what they wanted to bring to the shower for food so they could coordinate ideas and she still would not share any details about the decorations! I let her know from the start that I enjoy party planning and that I wanted a say in what is being done for my baby, since it is going to be our first and only. Any advice?

  • Ever owned or driven a Hyundai Elantra?

My husband and I are looking at purchasing a 2000 Hyundai Elantra with 73,000 miles on it for a real deal. Does anyone have any comments on how their Elantra worked out or any tips on what to watch out for?

Our first baby is due in June, so if anyone has any safety concerns that they feel we should be aware of, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Can a salvaged vehicle be traded-in at a dealership?

Sometimes dealerships offer a $3000 minimum trade-in on vehicles, but my car is a salvaged vehicle that my husband repaired for me. Can it still be traded-in (in Wisconsin)?

  • How do you reach a University of Phoenix academic counselor?

Apparently, everyone I was assigned to work with at University of Phoenix online approximately six months ago has quit. I am trying to get some help on my next set of classes and I cannot get anyone to return my phone call and when I get a live operator, they put me in some random voicemail. Does anyone know how to get ahold of a live academic counselor??
