I'm a Marine Corps Mom and proud of it!! I have three children, including my son the Marine, and my two daughters, ages 18 and 13. I am a juvenile probation officer and proud Conservative Republican. I am anti-illegal immigration and pro-Military. I believe we should take care of our environment, but I believe Global Warming is an unproved theory that the Environmental lobby is using to fund their lobby efforts... Ask me anything...

  • I just booked my first Royal Carribean cruise and have a question. Can you help?

I just booked a 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise on Royal Carribean, for my daughters and myself, for next March. Question: Is there any difference in dining attire between the early seating and late seating? Which seating did you prefer and why? (The earlier one just seems too early to me... but if the later one is dramatically more formal, we'll eat early!!) :)

    Thanks!

  • Anybody else as eager as I am for the return of BONES in two weeks?

I never watched this show until the writer's strike, and have now watched every episode from Season's 1 and 2 on DVD, and all the Season 3 episodes online. It's coming back in just two weeks. I can't wait!! The last moments of the Christmas episode make me think the Brennan/Booth thing is going to be heating up real soon! I sure hope so!

  • Is it normal to feel sore after giving extended CPR?

I gave CPR (15 compressions/2 breaths, per dispatcher) for approximately 20 minutes, on my own, prior to the arrival of EMT/Paramedics last Wednesday morning. I'm not in great physical shape and my feet are cramping, back aches, leg muscles, arms and hands are all aching. I am not sure if the aches I'm continuing to feel are normal after giving CPR for that long (for someone who's as out of shape as I am) or if it's a physical response to grief. Any info would be appreciated.

  • Question for our resident Marines??

Simple question, guys... You know I'm not a Marine, but am very proud to be a Marine Corps Mom. One of you said something recently about someone earning the right to say "Semper Fi". I know it's the Marine Corps motto... but is it offensive to Marines to have non-Marines (but... say... oh, I dunno... a Marine Mom) say it to them? I don't ever say it verbally, but have written it here occasionally. I've only do so when I really felt it was appropriate or when I sensed it was a Marine who was not saying a lot more than he was saying about the real deal... to let him know I appreciated his service. I would never want to offend any of you by doing so.... and I really don't want to look like I'm trying to act like a Marine when I'm more of a "run and hide" type Mom... :)

If non-Marines using the motto is offensive... please let me know so I don't go around stepping on Marine toes, okay?

  • What IS it with people... are they just unconscious?? Do they just not pay attention??

Am I the only one who's just amazed at some of the questions we see here? Even the most basic of books about pregnancy and infant care cover so many of the questions I see here at Y/A's, it surprises me that folks will go to the internet to ask 4 billion strangers what they should do or think or say, when experts and moms have been discussing many of the issues and writing about them for years?

For goodness sake, this is YOUR child... YOU are responsible for learning as much as you can about your pregnancy and taking care of your new baby once it goes home with you. Why doesn't it even occur to you to spend $25.00 on a book, so you'll have a good reference point for these questions?

I really don't mean to be offensive... If I can get one person to take some initiative and make themselves a better-informed parent, then I'll be happy... It just surprises me that people don't take the job of parenting more seriously.

  • Sanjaya = Mowgli???

Is it just me, or does Sanjaya look just like Mowgli from Disney's animated "The Jungle Book"?? I keep waiting for him to TRY to sing "The Bare Necessities"... hopefully as he makes his exit!

  • Anybody else tired of being ridiculed for bottle feeding?

Folks, there's nobody on this planet who doesn't know that breastmilk is better for babies than formula is. You don't have to keep telling us it's better. However, it would be very nice if you'd understand and accept the fact that some of us don't have a choice. I've raised three children to adulthood and never had a drop of breastmilk. Some moms don't have the choice to breastfeed because of illness, physical disability, or life circumstances.

Just a request... please be sensitive to how you word things. Many of our new parents are stressing out over every little thing anyway... They really don't need to hear complete strangers telling them the best they can give their child isn't good enough.

  • What do you think? Is this ethical?

I thought the media was supposed to be unbiased.... What does it say when the News Director for a major US television network writes a book about what the Democrats/Liberals (whom he refers to as "we") need to do to win the next election???

That tells me the liberal slant to our network media is in full force and effect. Anybody think there's ANY chance of getting unbiased news from that source? Don't they teach ethics in Journalism school anymore?
