  • Flag(s) of our Fathers?

Charles A. Lindberg (No relation to the Aviator) died at the end of June 2007. He was one of the raisers of the first flag on Suribachi, Iwo Jima. What with that, and the recent films, my question is:

Where are the flags that were raised on Iwo Jima (Both the first one and the one shown in the Rosenthal photo)?

  • Apollo 10...?

Hre's the story - in 1968, NASA sent Apollo10 all the way to the moon, deployed the Lunar Lander, let it get within 9 Kilometers of the surface, and then recalled it as a test run for Apollo 11. Jim Stafford (A Fly by the seat of the pants test pilot and fighter jock) flew the lunar Module. What was to keep him from experiencing "Technical difficulties", landing, and being the first Man on the moon???

The Answer - NASA engineers walked Him through the entire module, specifically showing him that it was loaded 1000 LBS too heavy. Had he landed on the moon, He'd have been unable to take off again. Might have been the first Man on the moon, but would have stayed there.

Question - Is this story/fable true?
