  • Comcast DVR reverts back to older saved shows?

Has anyone else run into this problem? My DVR/Digital cable box goes off overnight out of the blue. When I turn it back on in the morning I have lost any recent saved shows and it reverts back to older saved shows. Some I've already watched and erased! The cable company has already replaced the unit once and is coming out to do it again but I don't want this to keep happening. I have Comcast cable. Any ideas?

  • Newbie Wireless Networking Question?

I'm a newbie to networking but not to computers in general. I just bought a laptop w/ Win Vista that is wireless capable. I also own an older computer with Win ME (yes, it's a dinosaur). I have a cable modem currently hooked to that computer and I just bought a Netgear wireless router. My thought was that I'd keep the old computer hard wired to the modem and use the wireless for my new laptop. But will that work? Clearly I'll have to unhook the cable modem and run it through the router. Will I be able to also hook the PC to the router to continue having an internet connection on it? Will I wind up needing any special networking cards for the PC? It's just all new to me and I'd appreciate anyone who can help me think this through. Thanks!

  • Help with my Sansa Express MP3 Player?

I bought a Sansa Express MP3 player and am having some problems. I must use my computer at work because I don't have Windows XP at home. However, for some reason I can't update XP--it keeps saying we have a "volume" key that's been blocked. I have no idea why. We had these computers put in over 5 years ago by a reputable company. So I don't have Windows SP2. Will I be able to download songs into this thing or not? I tried to with Rhapsody and got nowhere fast. I'm not a computer newbie but I am an MP3 player newbie. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Sansa Express and Windows ME? Possible?

I just bought a Sansa Express MP3 player. I know it says the minimum requirement is Windows XP and I can do that if I go to my workplace but is there any way to get it to work with Windows ME? When I plug it in ME knows it's there and trys to find drivers for it but there are no drivers. It would just be so much easier if I could use this at home. Any ideas?

  • Comcast made Internet prob worse. Can anyone help?

Several days ago I uninstalled Zone Alarm using Windows Add/Remove programs. Shortly afterward I began to have an odd problem. I could get email, I could sign on to AOL IM but I couldn't "surf" (I use IE but also tried on Netscape and no go). I have a Comcast cable modem that's been working just fine up until recently. I called Comcast and they eventually sent someone out. Well, he made it worse! He went on my computer to the Windows Set-up and kept trying to reinstall something. He said something about Winsock 1 and 2 and kept mumbling that it had been a long time since he worked on Win 98. I have Win ME Einstein! By the time he was done I couldn't even use my email or IM anymore. He said the only thing I could do is back up my files and use my Compaq recovery disk to reinstall whatever I've lost! What the hell? I'm now at work so I'm going to try to pick the brains of you all out there and see if there's anything else I can do.

  • How trustworthy is AAMCO? Transmission problem?

A couple of months ago after getting new brakes and rotors my car began jerking when I went up hills (occasionally on straight aways too). Inspection was due the next month so I took it back in to my mechanic and he said something vague about the "turbo" something in the "transmission". He recommended driving it in regular drive instead of overdrive and see if it still happened. Well it did. So Monday I took it to an AAMCO for a free external diagnostic. They said that I was leaking a great deal of transmission fluid (I'd never noticed it leaking neither did my mechanic) and the residue was burnt. They would have to take the transmission out to see what was wrong and to give me an estimate on repairs. The labor on this alone would be $600! I am on a very tight budget and cannot afford thousands of dollars of repairs. On the other hand I can't afford a new car either. Anybody with any experience with AAMCO or advice? I would appreciate it.

  • Cable modem and office network Help Please?

I am the closest thing to a computer tech in my office. We have three computers linked with an ethernet hub. We also have a router that our DSL modem is hooked to. The problem started when we decided to go to a cable modem. The cable company sent someone to install it but he could not get it to work and said it was a network problem and he couldn't do anymore for us. The doctor I work for is cheap so we don't have anyone other than me to troubleshoot problems. The cable guy could get his computer to connect to the Internet with the new modem but he said our computers were still recognizing the IP address of the DSL modem instead of the cable modem. Does this make any sense to anyone? Any suggestions?

  • Help me figure out who sings this.....?

I hope I'm not getting the song and the artist mixed up. Let's see if anyone can help me because I can't get this song out of my head!

The lyric which goes over and over in my head is "it only lasts for a moment". The male singer has a high, almost falsetto voice. He's the singer for a band that went on to be known as this singer AND whatever the bands name is. I can picture the guy....slightly receeding hairline, wiry hair, caucasian sitting behind a piano.

This is driving me crazy so any help will be appreciated.

  • Looking for Osvaldo Valle who went to Kennett Square H.S.?

Osvaldo was a friend of mine who I lost track of after I left Kennett Square. He was an amazing friend and there were issues that kept us from continuing our friendship. I have always wondered what happened to him. I have tried "people search" sites but they haven't gotten me anywhere.
