It might have been an animated TV show. She always had half of her face covered by hair. And she was hot.

I enjoy the people in my life for the most part. I keep working out and doing well in my classes. There are no issues I feel I can't overcome right now. I feel pretty good about myself.

EXCEPT there's this constant, creeping feeling that there's really no reason for anything I do. I don't know why we're here. We will all live and reproduce and die, continuing in this cycle for as long as we can manage to survive as a species. It seems really pointless. :(

How do people deal with this?

So my friend seems to think the U.S. is headed towards certain doom, the economy's gonna tank, all our foreign debts will suddenly be asked to be repaid, we may or may not be invaded (by other world powers and he thinks they could "take us" easy, since our military is "the most inefficient ever"), and that perhaps we deserve this in some perverse karmic way.

Could you analyze this in terms of likelihood? Also, give reasons why this would/would not happen. Plus I totally disagree with him on the military level. I feel like our military would totally rock at defending us. If it was us vs. the world, militarily, how bad would it be? I don't know why this bugged me so badly.

Why do we add -american to the end of different races in the United States? American is not a race.

I think this encourages the association of white/caucasian with American, while emphasizing those of different races as different. Is there a good reason why we do this? I'm pretty sure no one is called African-European in Europe!
