  • is it illegal to do your own gas fitting in massachusetts?

    I am buying a gas dryer. I am moving the dryer 3 feet to the right of the location of the original gas dryer. I want to get a 3 ft length black pipe at the home center. There happened to be plumber there and he told me that in massachusetts, only a licensed plumber can do the work, and a permit and inspection is needed. Is this true? If so, way are home centers allowed to sell gas fitting to regular people if it is illegal to do the work in your own home.
