why don't we (all people in all countries) call each country or nation by the name they call themselves?
for example, we call other countries Germany, Italy, and Japan...why don't we call them Deutschland, Italia, and Nippon?

11 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs polydactylism more common in certain ethnicities?
Born Confused asked a question about the alleles for polydactylism, which made me recall: the only two people who I've encounted who have had 6 fingers were both African (but I'm not sure what ethnicity), I'm wondering if the dominant trait of being polydactyl is common in certain groups. The only info I have found is that it is more common in the US in the amish due to founder effect. I want info on the genetic trait, not on birth defects, etc. I'm normally a cybersleuth, but can't seem to get any good hits.

7 AnswersPhilosophy2 decades agoDo you critically analyze your beliefs, or just accept what authority figures tell you to believe?
ie...do you hold beliefs because you were raised to believe that is the way things are, or have you questioned if things really are the way you have been taught.
For example, I was raised christian, then I began to see that some people who claimed to be christian didn't live their lives that way, it made me question what it meant to be christian and realized that one can be a good, moral person without being a christian.
