I asked a question before asking why people are against gay marriage. A lot of them said because marriage, is a connection between boy man and woman. So, what would changing the name do? A couple people said gay's aren't happy with a "civil union", and they want marriage. What what would changing the name do?

I'm a republican, but basically the only thing I disagree with is gay marriage. I'm not gay, but I do think it's wrong for gay people not to have the right to be married. I think that if gay people can't get married because of their orientation, it eliminates their right to pursuit of happiness. If gays can't get married, their still going to have sex, and still raisethe chance of HIV and AIDS. So can a REPUBLICAN explain to me why they are personally against gay marriage?
