  • Switching from APUSH to CLEP American History?

Hi, I'm in ninth grade. Last semester I worked really hard on studying for the American History AP exam. Unfortunately the beginning of this semester I had a lot of stuff going on and wasn't able to focus on school as much as I wanted to. I feel like I need more test taking experiences before jumping into an AP; so I am not planning on taking the test.

I don't want all my studying to go to waste, so I've been researching taking an SAT Subject test or CLEP exam instead. I'm pretty sure that those tests do not have essays ( big relief). What is the difference in focus and depth between all three exams ( AP, CLEP, SATII)? Would studying for AP American History be sufficient studying for CLEP or SATII? Do they have different Focus's?

    Please Help,

    Thank you.

  • Would this be a good flute for beginners?

Cecilio 2Series FE-282S Silver Plated 16 Keys Open Hole C Flute

I was thinking about getting this flute and was wondering if it is a good one for beginners? I would probably buy plugs, I just don't want to buy a closed hole flute because then I have to buy a whole new one when I'm ready to move on.

I play the guitar and piano already, but have always wanted to play the flute. How much of a time commitment do you think learning the flute is? I would like to play well, but not professionally. Would I absolutely need a live teacher? Or could I use books and online videos to teach myself? Any flute buying basics I should know? Should I find a teacher before I find a flute? I'm a freshman in highschool and already know how to read music, how long do you think it would take to be able to play fairlly nicely?

Any information about starting out with this instrument would be really appreciated!

  • Can You teach yourself the Mandolin? ( beginner advice please )?

I play the piano and guitar, I am interested in learning the mandolin too. I taught myself the guitar, with a bit of help from my older brother and was wondering if I would need lessons to learn the mandolin? Or could I teach myself using textbooks and online videos? What should I know before starting the mandolin? Any tips or pointers?

  • Canon - PowerShot 12.1- right for me?

I'm looking to upgrade to a nicer camera, since I've always had sort of low quality point and shoots for under 200 dollars. I was wondering if the Canon - PowerShot 12.1-Megapixel Digital Camera would be a good camera for a beginner interested in expanding her horizons and learning about real pro photography. Has anyone had experience with this cam? How easy is it to use? How easy is it to use all the features it brags about? Does it take nice pics? What kind of quality is the video?

  • Moving up to a better Camera...?

I've had a simple digital camera (canon Powershot SD 500) for quite a while, I am very interested in photography, though I will admit I don't know too much about it, I am ready to learn. I would love to move up to a little bit of a nicer camera, the kind you can take more professional pictures with. I don't need the best of the best, just a nice camera that will take professional pictures,

    Any recommendations?

I would like it to be less then three hundred dollars (cheaper the better, though I want it to be quite nice), is that realistic? What is a realistic price range?

How many megapixels do you need to start experimenting with more pro photography?

any ideas for photagraphy learning books or courses?

I love photography, I've always dreamed of traveling around the world and getting thousands of beautiful pictures of everyday life around the globe. I just don't know where to start, please help me.

    Thanks.

  • Study Tips for AP US History?

I'm studying on my own for the APUSH test and was wondering if anyone who has taken the test could help by posting some study tips.

I don't have an APUSH textbook yet, is it necessary that I get one? if so which one is the best?

I've been using books and free online resources. http://www.ushistory.org/us/index.asp as my main resource and textbook, do you think that is sufficient?

I'm not looking for a five, but a four would be preferable and I definitely don't want to fail, I'm willing to work hard I just don't know what exactly I should be doing.

    Help please : )

  • Empty book with different kinds of pages?

I was given a beautiful keepsake book by a close friend. The outside looks like a photo album, but when opened you see that it has two kinds of paper. First comes a thick hardy black piece of paper, then a thin see-through tracing paper sort of thing. I couldn't decide what this book was for, could it have something to do with pressing flowers? Anyone know what the purpose of it is?

  • Natural Food Coloring....?

I need to make a nice mint color for some cookies I am giving as a gift. I would like to avoid using food coloring from the store ( if at all possible). Any ideas for some nice green colors? It is very important that the dyes do not affect the taste.

    Thank you,

  • 7th grade math curriculum?

I have never liked math and never found a good math program ether. I have tried saxon and while it was OK for a while after a while it got to be terrible. I would like something that actually tries a LITTLE bit to be fun or at least interesting. Something that explains concepts well, and something that I will look forward to.

I was also wondering if anyone had some reviews or opinions of the 7th grade math version of

    switched on schoolhouse,

    Lifepac,

    or Math detective.

  • Does a female cardinal have to sit on its nest always?

There is a cardinal nest in my yard, and after a long rainfall I noticed there was no Mother or Father at the nest ( which does have one egg) I never scared it away but was wondering if it had been scared away and won't come back or if the Mother just rain to get some earthworms after a nice long rainfall. Can a Mother Cardinal leave her eggs unwarmed? Or is she going to come back?

  • Which instrument for me quiz?

I currently take piano lessons but my whole family does that. I would like to pick up another instrument. I play a little guitar but I would like to play an unusual but not too unusual instrument. I have thought of cello, but I am not always good with strings. I am already eleven so I think I would like to learn something challenging but not so hard I can never be good at it because I didn't start young. If anyone has any ideas please give them to me.

But my real question was does anyone know of a which instrument is right for you quiz somewhere on the internet which I could take? Please if you do give me a quiz don't give me one with any bad stuff on it, even bad advertisements.

  • I am homeschooled and love it but are there any good sixth grade math programs out there?

To be more specific I like good explanations for concepts and not TOO many problems for ONE concept but review is fine.
