Gnats burrowing into my horse's coat???! How can I stop them?
We have big gnats that are burrowing themselves into my horses neck and chest... I don't think they're biting but they're making his skin all itchy and I can't get of them! I've tried antiseptic and furazone to help the skin but the gnats don't care...

1 AnswerFish5 years agoMy newly deaf dog barks constantly when we aren't in the room? How to stop it?
He doesn't like being alone but doesn't follow us around because his hips are bad so he'll lay on the floor in a room and while bark nonstop until someone comes to acknowledge him and pet him. Now when we try to ignore him, he won't stop barking... How do I fix this problem?
3 AnswersDogs5 years agoMy horse isn't eating his hay?
I gave him treats and some grain to see if he would eat that, and he did and he also drank some of his water, so I don't think it's colic. He hasn't touched his hay though and seems fine otherwise... Any ideas?
3 AnswersHorses6 years agoHow to get your horse to respect you when doing liberty?
I can usually start fast walking or jogging and my horse (a gelding if that matters) will trot behind me, but yesterday he reared up at me from behind and kind of flung his head at me too. I did make him back up after that and kept him on a lead line for the rest of the time..what can i do to improve?
4 AnswersHorses6 years agoHow to slowly improve my horse's stamina?
He needs to gain more muscle but I don't want to push him too hard because he's 16. Right now we only canter about 2 times around the ring (in an olympic size dressage arena)

4 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoMy horse bucks when asked to move forward?
He's fine until I ask him to canter ... Then it goes downhill from there. He then bucks when I ask him to trot, bucks when I ask him to walk, and bucks even when I ask him to turn when he's standing in one spot! He just started this yesterday .. Tack hasn't been changed and he's worn the same saddle for months .. Why is he doing this?
4 AnswersHorses6 years agoMy horse refuses to stay on the rail going one way? (read short description first!)?
Going counter-clockwise he is fine and stays on the rail and listens to my signals using mostly my reins. Going clockwise he constantly goes toward the middle. Here's the problem: he doesn't really understand listening to your leg and the only way I can get him to stay on the rail is if I switch from holding the reins english style to neck reining him... if I keep using the english way than I have to pull really hard and he doesn't even care! ... any advice for keeping him on the rail?

9 AnswersDogs6 years agoMy horse pulls the reins out of my hands?
I don't hold the reins too tight - his new habit is to pull them so hard out of my hands that I fall forward...I've tried giving them a small tug when he does that to break his habit and I say "no" but he doesn't do anything differently. I do keep my hands tight around the reins too ?

He used to be a driving horse so he's used to cars, but how do I get him used to all the people and the noises (firetrucks, guns, etc.)? He isn't really spooky but I wouldn't say he rarely spooks (he's somewhere in the middle) Thanks :)
