Asking out this girl?
So basically I've known this girl's family since I was a kid. I used to go round and play with the brother because we both went to the same school, and later on I helped out the mum, worked for the dad and just generally joked about with the sister, the girl I'm in to.
Two years back I joined them on a family holiday and ever since I can't get the sister out of my head. I sometimes still hang out with the brother and I've told him she should hang out with us but he always says something along the lines of: "Oh, she would be bored" or "She's got her own friends" and I don't doubt the second line, but... I dunno, I recently messaged her on facebook because it was her birthday and we had a really long conversation and it was super awesome. I just don't know what to do, because I don't see her all the time despite being a family friend, I don't know whether to just ask her out or... And one last note, I'm 19 and she's just turned 17. Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerSingles & Dating5 years agoMy ex is kind of annoying me?
Ok, so we broke up around 3 months ago after I went over to hers without her mum knowing and then her mum didn't want her being "alone", so she had to get me a taxi (my moped HAD to brake down at that point, didn't it...) so we broke up. Anyway, a few days after, she messaged me saying "I miss you" - I questioned her and she got all mad, saying "I can miss you as a friend" ... Then, a few days ago, she was all like "Oh, we should've gone out for your birthday!" - I mean, she's a sweet-enough girl, had a few problems with depression (e.g. cutting, near-fatal suicide etc), but is she physically trying to mess with my head! I just want to move on and have a good college (UK)/ high school life in a months time!
4 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoBug catching? Just a Japanese thing?
I can't remember why I decided to do a little research, but I was curious about bug catching while playing Animal Crossing on the DS. Then, I found out Pokemon was inspired by the creator imagining bugs crawling across the wire that connected two Game Boys (remember link cables? Nostalgia right there). I remember catching tadpoles with my friends when I was little, is catching bugs the Japanese equivalent? And do people still do it, like after childhood? Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture8 years agoLast state to put on my list?
Basically, I've made a list of some states that I'd like to go visit someday, but I'm limiting myself. Even if I join the Army (which I'm going to do in 2 yrs time, after college/high school) I'm only gonna have so much, money-wise! So, out of these 7 states, which 2 or 3 would you pick, with a reason or two, or even a weblink, for each? Many thanks, and the states are below!
Texas, Utah, South Dakota, South Carolina, Washington, Oregon and Oklahoma.
On my list are, just for people who were interested: Alaska, Arizona, NY, Hawaii, Arkansas, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nevada, Alabama, Maine, New Mexico, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Wyoming.
5 AnswersOther - United States8 years agoCan I cancel my Navy application?
As well as "Can I", it also kind of "Do I". I applied for the Navy a few months back, and failed on my medical due to possibly having a latex allergy. Anyway, they sent me a letter saying this and that if I didn't get back to them, with proof, then my application wouldn't continue. I emailed them half way through my test to say I was having the latex test soon and they said they'd keep my application open. However, I've recentley been speaking with my college career advisor and we settled that I should actually join the army, I've always been interested in the Army and, in my opinion, there are more career options. So, do I need to tell the Navy this, or do I just wait for my trial period to end so they will cancel my application? Thanks in advance!
OH, and I don't have an allergy to latex, so it won't affect my Army application!
3 AnswersMilitary8 years agoWho do I get in touch with for this?
Basically, there's a crossroad that links two villages, but left and right part of the crossroad is a busy, main "A" road. And when you look, or should I say try to look, right, there's a kind of bush thing obstructing the view. I don't think people have been bothered to contact anyone, but whenever me and my Mum use the road, we always comment on it. Do I get in contact with the local council, or the parish council? Or who?
1 AnswerOther - Environment8 years agoIs this a problem nationwide?
Last night, I waited an hour and a half for my Mum because I'd accidentally locked my keys in the trunk of my moped (I'd placed my keys in the trunk then the wind slammed the seat shut). Anyway, I rang my Nan and we concluded I should go to the nearest police station while I wait for Mum. There door was locked, and so i sat outside chatting to another man. He had been arrested over a phone or something, but he also had to wait nearly 2 hours for a car to come and pick him up! Honestley, are the police lacking in staff? If so, why won't they take applicants?! I mean, I'm looking to go in, I look up to the force almost as much as my parents, but jeez! I was hoping they could've come and asked what was up when they saw us 2 sat there on the wall! Like, 3 police cars came out! ... Sorry, little miffed
7 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoI've been meaning to ask this for a while...?
Yeah, I completely forgot! Sometimes, probably, um, at the most 10 times a month, at the least 10 times every 3 months I'd guess, I find myself unable to breath while sleeping. It's really scary because subconsciously I'm awake, but I'm not fully. So my brain is kind of shut off and therefore I can't wake up. Sometimes this feels like it goes on for a good 10 mins, when in reality it must go on for about 3 at most. And obviously when I do wake up I take a massive gulp of air. Then I'm scared to go to sleep again, as it could happen again. Sometimes, from what I remember, it has happened 3 times in a row. Anyone get any ideas on what this is, and, most importantly, how do I help/stop myself!?
4 AnswersOther - Health & Beauty8 years agoThings to buy in Japan?
As people who are familiar with me (who am I kidding, I use this page too much!), people will know I want to visit Japan. Now, I'm bringing £400 spending money, and I know that's a lot with the conversation rate, but I want to be safe. My package contains 1 night at Tokyo (the day part of Day 1 is flying over), then 2 days in Tokyo, 1 day in Hakone then 2 and a half days in Kyoto (other half is flight back). So can anyone recommend some things to bring back, and some delicacies to try while I'm over there (Breakfast is included in the package) - Thanks!
6 AnswersJapan8 years agoWhy was I stuck to my chair?
When I was a Christian, I watched this Soul Survivor programme on TV - it's a Christian music festival. And they had this priest guy "healing" people, and some started shouting out. I thought it was a little wierd and decided to go get a drink. My arms were on the chair arms (it was a recliner kind of thing) and I found I was completeley stuck. I actually tried to wriggle out, but I couldn't move for three minutes. Now, being a sort of athiest (I kind of like Buddhists ways, but I need to research) I believe it was a psychological thing, but do you guys and gals have any theories?
1 AnswerPsychology8 years agoIs this a wierd Cannabis problem? Is it even due to Cannabis?
OK, so I went to my mates 18th about 3 days ago, had never done weed in my life, and really enjoyed it. I shared about 3 joints, so all in all I probably only smoked about a joints worth of the stuff. Anyway, obviously 3 days have passed, and I'm really struggling to type this w/o spelling mistakes cuz I'm shaking like hell. I've got the munchies a bit as well, despite having a good meal last night. Is this the weed going through me, or something else? Cheers!
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoDo the Police Force (UK) take undergrads?
Well, my law teacher (well, will be in Sept) said if I want to join the CID, I'm best going in to the CID after Uni. I'm just curious if the CID, or any other branch in the police, take undergrads? Thanks in advance!
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoAnother darn relationship question from me... But I'm kind of really confused?!?
OK, this is a little deep and complicated, so I'll briefly overview the situation - I started work at this discount store back in January, and had fun getting to know people, but there was this one girl, who reminded me of someone from my school I'd just left, who I nearly went out with, but I chickened out in the end. Anyway, I eventually start working together with this girl (she's just under 3 years my elder) and we become quite close mates. Eventually, about 2-3 months in, she's recognized for her talents and gets a mangagerial (sorry about grammer) position, but while to others she seems to big for her boots, she remains quite close to me, personally. Anyway, now and back then, we always have banter with each other, not exactly flirting, but we're always laughing with each other. But when we have "serious" conversations (hardly ever however!) we do listen to each other. Her name's Sophie, but I always call her Soph (kinda irrelevant, as quite a few people do that), and she is a really caring person, as well as having an attractive body. So I could just be taking her caring signs a little too seriously. Now, if the circumstances were different, I would just ask her about her feelings. Except I know she has a boyfriend. We're friends on facebook, so I've seen pics, plus about 3 weeks after the shop opened up, she was talking about her boyfriend.... My personal feelings? Sometimes I feel I fancy her (never stop smiling thinking about her, butterflies in stomach thinking about her) and other times (can talk really casually to her, don't think about her)...
Sorry for the question being so long, I'm just a little confused obviously. Any help?!
2 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoCharity, UK-based, that most deserves £15?
Couple of things I want to clear up first. Firstly, by UK-based, I mean a charity that was started in the U.K. This means that charities that help 3rd world countries I will consider, it's just I don't want to send my money all the way to, say, America, as it could cost more. Secondly, I'm a student, I can only really afford 15 pounds! But I'm a charitable person... So, apart from the two "rules", question speaks for itself - any local charities that do good work, or national charities you think deserve a shout, even if they're popular, they deserve it! Many thanks!
8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoConfirmation of what I can do after my studies?
Well, I'm doing Law, Citizenship, Psychology and Environmental Studies, with the goal being me going in the police, I've loved it ever since I was a boy. I've also loved the environment, growing up in the country and what-not. My future Environment tutor at the college I start in September said there are loads of jobs in that sector, and sure enough, when I come home that afternoon from my taster day, I did a little research and was shocked at the amount of jobs avaliable. She also mentioned about looking into my local council. Can anyone give me any suggestions about environmental jobs I can do in my council, obviously after my studies? I know there's stuff like checking PH levels in soil, and checking where waste water goes in farms to ensure they don't pollute rivers or what not, but I did some construction work experience and really enjoyed it, and I assume they need some environmental guidance somewhere? Thanks for all the help!
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment8 years agoPlaying sports in Japan?
Basically, I'm thinking of going Japan next year sometime, maybe even this year if I can get the funds, but is there like venues I can go to to play sports? Or, like the UK, if you wanna kick a ball about, can you go to a park and just set up a mock game? Just want to respect the Japanese ways and culture
2 AnswersJapan8 years agoMy local karate system ranking?
My local karate place, which I've just had my first lesson at yesterday and loved, has a system in place where RED is the rank up from white. When I look on the internet though, RED is just before BLACK. So, that's why I'm a bit confused haha!
6 AnswersMartial Arts8 years agoI had sex with my cousin?
Yeah, it's not a problem now, as his Mum and step-dad have a pub, and they move all over the UK, but when we were close, it was around 4-5 years ago, I used to, ahem, suck and also "take it" in my bum. We are both male, and believe me, if he likes men, it his problem. I mean, it wasn't exactly rape as he never hurt me, and sometimes (just due to this being my first encounter with sexual "stuff") I wanted to do stuff more than him. Anyway, I've never told anyone due to embarrassment, but sometimes when I'm alone and daydreaming, I'll think about it, and shudder... As wrong as this sounds, sometimes I wish the cousin in question was female... All though that would be worse, if age stayed the same, because he's 8 years my elder... So my question is, is there a technique or anything that will make me think of other things when my mind wanders?
JUST TO CLARIFY, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST GAYS OR BISEXUALS, BUT I AM STRAIGHT! I've had a couple of relationships, with girls, since this :P
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships8 years agoWhat's wrong with me? Hayfever? Another illness?
Maybe it's me, or maybe it's a mild case, but I do remember annually, around May time to be fair, my eyes and bum start to itch like mad for some reason, only for a fortnight or so. I've been at work today, and been fine, but just tonight my nose is blocked and, I know I shouldn't have, but I've been scratching my eyes constantly... And my left ear feels like it'x got a ton of wax in it... But I don't feel especially ill, apart from obviously my ear and eyes and bum and nose... Ugh... And the wierd thing is, the itchiness only happens at night, after 7-ish!
