  • Name of a film please?

I saw a film years ago, way back in the 80's, and I cant remember what its called.

Its set in the 1800's I think and its about a scientist that manages to stop people from dying. These people get strapped into some kind of machine and they are brought to the brink of death, usually in a guillotine, and then somehow, death is stopped and taken away from the 'victim' and kept in a bottle. It was first tested on an animal, possibly a guinea pig.

The end of the film is set in modern day London (I think) where the scientist looks about 130 years old and he's holding the guinea pig and standing in the road, the film ends as 2 cars come crashing towards him.

Thats about all I can remember, I'm sure its a British film but cant remember who stars in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • To all you Peperami fans out there, I need an answer.?

How does Peperami fit so much pork into each sausage? Looking at the side of the pack in the ingredients it says Pork (145%)!!! How is this possible? How do they pack 36.2 grams of pork into a 25 gram finger that also has other ingredients in it? Its not logically possible in my mind.

  • Should we just let the Giant Panda die out?

A ridiculous amount of money is used every year to try and keep the Giant Panda around, more than any other endangered species, but if the animal itself cant be bothered humping itself off the endangered list, should we just let it go extinct?

  • Paul McCartney & Nirvana?

OK, so I heard that Paul McCartney played with Nirvana (Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic) a few days ago at a reunion concert. Did anyone see it and is it worth finding to watch on the net somewhere?

Personally I dont like Paul McCartney but I love Nirvana.

  • Question about zombies?

OK, I know zombies don't exist but can anyone give me a rational explanation to this...

If a zombie is a reanimated dead person, then logically they would already be brain dead. So why would shooting them in the head have any affect? I can totally understand decapitation but why would shooting them or any kind of blunt force trauma to the head matter if the brain is dead already?

Also, you sometimes see zombies with a huge chunk of their head missing but they are still wandering around eating the neighbours. Surely, following the "destroy the brain" rule, they shouldn't be zombies, they should just be a corpse.

    Any thoughts from anyone?

  • Should Yahoo Answers set up another category for 'opinion asking' questions?

I've only been on YA for a few days now and it seems like there are a majority of questions that dont require actual definitive answers, just opinions, questions like...

    Whats your favourite movie?

    Whats your favourite band?

    Whats your favourite cheese?

...etc, etc, etc. As I said, I've only been here for a few days, just over a week or 2 and I've been trawling through pages and pages of these ridiculous types of questions trying to find things actually worth answering. Things like...

    What is this film?

    What is this song?

Whats the population of (whatever country)?

What do I get if I multiply X by Y?

    NOW, my question is...

Should YA create a sub-category for these types of questions that just require peoples opinions as opposed to real answers?

I know that this question could possibly fit into this category but I just feel it should be asked.

  • Should I just give up asking her out?

Theres this girl at my work, gorgeous girl and I quite fancy her. I talk to her all the time when we're at work together and I have her on facebook as well. When I ask her out for a drink, she usually says yes but when it comes to the day (or day before) she comes up with some excuse not to meet me. This has happened several times now and I'm starting to think that I should just let her go

Should I stop asking her out and just get on with my life?

  • 80's B-movie sci-fi about an alternate universe / dimension?

OK, this is bugging me now....and its NOT Bukaroo Banzai in the 8th Dimension.

I saw a film back in the 80's about 4 people that ended up travelling to an alternate world. I know the film is called something like 'Adventures in an alternate dimension' or 'Adventures in an alternate universe'.

Right, these 4 people end up going in pairs. Something happens here on earth (cant remember what) but 2 of them get teleported to this other world where there is a lot of trees and stuff, and some alien looking humanoid creatures. Then, the other 2 get teleported a few hours later but time in the other place has been a few weeks or months.

The first woman to go, who just happens to be a love interest of one of the 2nd group, ends up being treated like a queen or something, but because her other half comes through later, he is seen as the enemy for trying to save her.

I've just spent the last 4 hours searching the net, IMDB, google and youtube for answers but cant find anything.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi's...you're my only hope :-)

  • 80's sci-fi film with 5 glowing crystals and a mummy.?

Help required to find the name of a film I've seen several times but cant remember what its called.

Its from the 80's, mid 80's I think, and it starts off with an archaeologist that digs up a strange mummy's tomb in Egypt (obviously) and inside finds 5 spherical gem stones which he keeps.

He then flys back to the US with the mummy and the stones and gives the stones to various people (his daughter, and a few friends) but the mummy turns out to be an alien and reawakens and goes round collecting the stones (which glow when he's coming) and he kills 4 of the 5 people.

In the end, all 5 stones are taken back and the 'mummy' turns back into his original form, gets in his ship and flies off.

    Hope thats enough info.

  • I need to know the name of this old film, set in the wild west.?

I caught the end of a film YEARS ago, way back in the late 80's / early 90's but the film is from the 60's or 70's. Its a western and right at the end there is a poker game between several guys and 1 woman. During one hand, the woman apparently gets a good hand and wants to make a bet but doesnt have any cash so she takes her poker hand to a bank to use it as collateral to get a bank loan.

I think it turns out she had a losing hand but used it as a huge bluff to get back at one of the other guys playing poker.

If anyone has a clue, please let me know.
