I just thought about this and figured I would get some opinions. Anyway, Here's why I say that. It's not necessarily because that music it's self is that good but sometimes it can lead to bigger and better things. For instance you might hear a band on the radio that has an appealing sound but are a little over the top. That may prompt you to look for other bands with a similar sound and not as well known but more to your liking. And maybe the band you searched for and found might become one of your favorites. This happened to me. So the next time you hear a commercial band and dismiss them all together think about this post. What are your opinions on this?

For some reason these tend to be thoughtless questions as well. Is this question one of them? If so, I offer my apologies in advance.

a certain quality that puts you in a "dreamy" like state or maybe in a trance so to speak. With these songs especially you can close your eyes and immediately you are in another world. Anyway I've found another song like that and I'm sure some of you have heard it. Give me your opinion on whether or not it does the same to you please.

What songs do this to you?

outcome when a team goes through a couple of losing seasons? Do they rebound usually or fall by the wayside into anonymity?

It's actually been going on for a few years now but I'm really surprised that it's still going on. Are people so dissatisfied with today's music that they turned to this or is it because parents are having an influence on this? Anyone know the driving force behind this retro act? I grew up in the 80's so I'm very familiar with the music.

of the genres that rock/metal has been divided into? I understand that we need a description of music. When things start getting divided into categories and sub-categories and sub-sub categories I think people lose sight of the original meaning. It almost seems like they are more concerned with liking a certain genre or sub-genre than the actual music just because of the name it's given. Opinions?

people like Satriani, Vai and Eric Johnson retire? I have seen no new artists in this category. Will this genre die off? Does anyone know of any newer guitarists that play this style of music? It will be a sad sad day in music if this genre is allowed to die off:-(

Is it strictly one attribute or do you consider a wide range of things that ultimately contributes to something that you would consider as your favorite? I'm not looking for specific songs.

the music like: lady gaga - jonas - or american idol could be considered "gimmick music"? Many other ones I could name but there seems to be no substance to this corporate stuff. All fluff. Not to offend anyone. Here today gone tomorrow...

Or is it s merely a tool to line the pockets of Simon Cowell? Also it seems like the music from those people has a very short shelf life.

If you had a choice between only two bands to support and your choices were 1) A cover band that sounded good but didn't write their own songs but instead bought them from someone completely unrelated to the band. -OR-

2) An original band that sounded good and wrote all their songs themselves.

3) Do you think that writing original material is even an important factor when searching for new music or do you think it doesn't matter who wrote the songs as long as it sounds good?
