28 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoThe Perception of Beauty?
There was a discussion concerning Hugh Hefner today, and his preferences of beauty, and how it may or may not include African-American women.
Here is my question: Is the bias for one race and not another ... racism?
The only difference between races.. is the skin tone. No race can fit into one category. For example, you can't stereo-typically put all black people in the same category.. we are all different… you may even find a black person .. natural.. with blond hair and blue eyes.. [Aborigines])
What about other races... do we find not appealing, and is this belief racist?
Or is that the one area of our life... where we can have such a bias and it not be considered racist? I.e. preference of blonds, brunettes.. ect, ect.

A statement was made earlier: “Racism is over so get over it”. Is it really over? If so, when did it end? And if not, when will it end?
*Serious answers please!*

15 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoInterracial dating... Should I give a white guy a chance?
I am very pro-black. My goal in life is to create awareness and understanding to African American culture. From protest, to writing books, I spend my days and nights protecting the civil liberties of minorities. However I have a best friend, white guy, who has fallen in love with me. Unsure, I know that it will destroy everything that I stand for. How will I be perceived? And although I am all for dating interracially, as long as each person isn't socially confused... I am not sure how it will be perceived towards my constituents in the future. Or, perhaps dating interracially will not be misconceived as lacking black pride . All the same.. I have a serious dilemma. What to do?
21 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCan a black woman get a break?
When we will be seen as beautiful… just as we are.. Without chemicals.. or European conformist perceptions of beauty? When will we be okay with just being … black. Comfortable in our own skin, and still portraying perceived beauty around the world.
Its sad to see processed chemicals in hair... and weaves.. just to fit into our stereo-types of what we believe as beautiful. I would love to see a change. Back when India Arie and Lauren Hill were popular…
And granted all black women, people are different.. but when will we be allowed to be natural.. and still seen as beautiful?
When will we get a break?

5 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhy do people join political gangs?
Rather than review issues, our citizens join gangs. They shout from the rafters that they are republican or democrat, without truly seeing what the issues are. When will this change? And HOW did this come about?
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow to end Racisim, without ending race.?
Today, there was a discussion with co-workers concerning racism and how it plagues American history. Although I completely disagree, one suggested that artist such as Spike Lee and other radical black nationalist, perpetuated racism rather than created a solution. With such a complex issue, how does one maintain self identification without perpetuating racism and how do we combat this plaguing issue in our society?
10 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoShould African-Americans give their vote to the REPUBLICAN PARTY?
I was watching a special on Ed Brooks yesterday and of course fell in love. On both parties, African-Americans are being ignored. Where is the health-care reform? When will urban educational issues become a concern to the government? When will we finally address the plaguing issue of social security? Ed Brooks suggested that perhaps we place our vote with the Republican Party, so that we are not taken for granted.
Far fetched? What do you think??
