  • has anyone ever been fired for omitting a job on an application?

like say they ask for so many years of work history and you inadvertantly left it off. like a minor short term job or something like that.

  • former boss wont give reference?

So I was offered a great job. I have been going through the background check process. They asked for 10 years of employment history after the offer was extended to me. I provided a list of all of my former jobs since 1997. They were concerned that there were so many jobs, so they wanted to have some professional references. The specificially asked for 2 from the current state that I live and 2 from the previous state that I lived in. I provided 6 references all together, just in case they could not reach someone. I was mainly concerned with one reference that I put down from 6 years ago. (since they asked for 2 from my former state, I had to provide this person) They called her and she said she could not remember me but she thought it was a good reference. She asked the HR people to send her an email and she would get back to them. Well, she hasnt. The HR department called me and asked that I call her to refresh her memory. I have left her 2 messages and sent 2 emails.

  • Unable to verify employment?

I have a conditional offer from a large corporation. They were concerned because I had so many jobs in the past 10 years. So they asked if I could provide proof of at least some of those jobs because it would be too costly to submit them all to thier background check service. So I sent them all the w-2's I had. I then attempted to get documentation about the rest. I have most of the jobs documented, but there are 3 companies that do not have any record of me working there. I was a temp employee and the jobs were between 4-8 years ago.

Will this disqualify me from being employed? The jobs had nothing to do with the current offer.

  • Will they revoke thier job offer?

When I filled out the application, I disclosed my past 5 years of work experience. I went to the interview and got an offer. Then I went to take a drug screen and fill out paper work and they asked for 10 years of work experience which I emailed to them. Well, they called today to go over it. They were alarmed at the number of jobs I had in college. I told them I put myself through law school and college and I had to do whatever I could to make ends meet and keep up with school which included alot of short term jobs, ect. They said they were alarmed and wanted assurance that I would be committed to the job. They also asked for a list of employer references. So I sent them 5 references from my most recent positions. I told them I am commited to the position and I dont see it as a stepping stone or whatever.

Anyways, I am just concerned that they are going to renig thier offer. Its not a contracted position, so they can do whatever they want. But I have turned down other offers!

  • after you turn down an offer, can you go back?

So I interviewed for a position. A couple days later I was sent an assignment to complete from the company as phase II of the interview. After I started the assignment, I got another offer which I accepted. So I withdrew my name from consideration from the first company and did not complete the assignment. After I withdrew my name, they immediatly reposted the position. In the meantime, the offer I accepted fell through. So I went back and completed the assignment and sent it to the first company with a message explaining that I knew it was a long shot, but I thought it was worth a try.

If you were the manager, how would you view this? Would you not even consider someone who withdrew their name and then came back? What would you think?

  • Off-Duty Cop?

So last night, we are asleep. At 3 am, someone bangs on the door. I look out the window, and there is a police officer (in uniform) on my law with a flashlight. He sees me look out the window and flashes his light up at me. So my dogs are freaking out and I yell at my husband to get up. I look out the window again, and I dont see a cop car, just a pickup truck in front of our house with its lights on.

So my husband goes down. The cop tells him that he stopped because our garage door was open. Thats it, thats the only reason. At 3am!

We live in a small town suburb, its very low crime. No one locks their doors or anything. We have left our garage door up accidently several times.

So can cops do this? Just come on your property in the middle of the night for an open door?

  • pregnancy test interpretation?

so, period due tomorrow or friday

we had sex on and around the ovulation days, so theres a reasonable hope. im pretty fertile, runs in the family, I just have had toruble hanging onto pregnancies in the past.

so, anyways, i took a test. it was a EPT test. when the negative line showed up, there was a tiny sliver of the positive line that showed. its very small.

anyone else had this and had a true pregnancy result?
