  • Can I put a time duration on an effect in Adobe After Effects?

On a video clip, I would like an effect to last only for a certain amount of time, and then 'fade'/'blend' transition back into normal as it was without the effect.

For example, take one single clip >> view it in normal mode for a duration of time >> blend/transition into the "Cartoon" effect for a duration of time >>> transition back into normal mode.

Is there a way to do this?

If it's any help, I also have Adobe Premiere, both versions are CS5

  • Use the ratio test to determine if the series diverges or converges?

I have tried to work this problem and follow examples in the book. I will show you where I get stuck.

    SUM (n=1 to inf) (8^n)/(n!)

    What I've Done:

    { (8^(k+1) + k+1) / (k+1)! } / { (8^k + k)/(k!) }

    Inverse, and multiply...

    (8^(k+1) + (k+1)) / (k+1)! times (k!)/(8^k + k))

this is the step where I get stuck. I know things cancel, and I'm stuck with something simple (IE. 1/8 ), but IDK how to get there.

The more informative, step-by-step, the more helpful. Thank you guys! Yahoo Answers peeps have always been awesome about giving quality answers!

  • killing batman with a bullet?

im sick of people telling me Batman will kill Superman, and is better than Superman in every way, blah blah blah... here it is

    Yes, Superman has a weakness.

    Yes, it's kryptonite.

Where are you going to get kryptonite? Last time I checked, Krypton was blown to crap, and kryptonite is a rare rock.

Batman has every weakness you or I have. He's a man. A bullet is a weakness.

How abundant are bullets? I can pick one up at my local Wal Mart... heck, my house has a gun and bullets.

    Can a bullet kill Batman?

    Yes.

Case closed. Convince me otherwise for points.

  • Loading.............................?

I remember when N64 and other games I played, most things were instant. No waiting for anything really, or at all.

Nowadays, any game I play, I have to wait for a "Loading..." screen before I can do anything.

I thought we were supposed to progress forward with our technology.

    What happened?

  • MS Excel Complex function?

I am managing my buisiness and I'd like to create a spreadsheet with a dropdown menu my customers can use.

The main thing I'm trying to accomplish here is to make the options on the following dropdown menus to depend on the selected value of the previous dropdown menu.

    For example:

If in my first dropdown menu, "PURPLE" has been selected - then, for the next drop downmenu to only have avaliable, "DARK PURPLE, LIGHT PURPLE,etc..."

If in the first dropdown menu, "BLUE" has been selected - then, for the next dropdown menu to only have avaliable, "DARK BLUE, LIGHT BLUE, etc..."

If I could have a chain of downdown menus going, each one contining options that depend on the last dropdown menu, that would be ideal.

If this doesn't make any sense, I can clarify, just ask me to specify a certain part. I'm also open to you e-mailing me tips, please: mx_racer12@yahoo.com

I already know how to create dropdown menus using the "Data Validation" option in Excel, however, I don't know how to tie several dropdown menus together (IE: "If dropdown in cell "A3" = "PURPLE", display options="DARK PURPLE, LIGHT PURPLE") <<<<<<< Something to this effect?

    Thanks

  • Law question: The right to remain silent?

The Miranda rights include the phrase, "...whatever you say may be used against you in a court of law..." (or something to that nature)

My question: Can things you said BEFORE the officer read you your Miranda rights be used against you in a court of law? Or only the statements you make AFTER he reads you your rights?

  • Is it possible to customize the operating system's name on Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and I would like to change the display under system information from

    "Windows 7 Ultimate"

    to

    "Windows 95"

Some people have not understood my question completely, so I must clarify. I do not want to dual boot with 95, nor do I want to change my OS in any way. All I'm trying to accomplish is changing the display text in 'System Properties' from "Windows 7" to "Windows 95".

    Thanks in advance!

  • New HP Pavilion and Vista Problems?

    HP Pavilion dv9930us

I've decided to either downgrade my Pavilion to XP or upgrade it to Windows 7. I've tried both ways, and all I encounter is trouble.

    Trying XP:

When I attempted this technique, the Windows Setup process delivers me a message informing me that Windows cannot locate a hard disk drive in my computer. After several Google searches, I found two solutions and attempted them both.

    1. Access the BIOS and configure the hard disk from "SATA" to "Raid Autodetect/ATA".

    2. Install Windows XP

After more reading, I have found that this has been successful for many people. However, when I access my BIOS on the computer, there is not an option to perform this task.

The next solution that I found via Google results was to use a program known as Nlite. I have never heard of this program before, but apparently, it creates a copy of the Windows XP install disc, while adding the drivers needed for the PC. I followed an online guide to do so - making sure I use the correct drivers for my PC - and the end result was the same as before, "Windows could not find any hard disk drives installed on your comptuer" - back to square one.

After searching Google meticulously, I was unable to find any more solutions to my issue, however the two solutions I have listed above show much success for other users.

    Trying Windows 7:

I was able to successfully upgrade the computer to Windows 7, but ran into several driver issues. Again, I referred to my friend, Google for answers. I came across several articles and websites/forums that express many people in my position - unable to upgrade the HP Pavilion dv9000 to Windows 7. One article in particular expressed several hate posts and complaints about people now abandoning HP because of their headaches with this issue. Apparently, HP does not support upgrading the Pavilion dv9000 series to Windows 7.

Now, I am left with a machine running Windows 7, in need of alot of drivers.

What I am in need of then is any solution to help direct me to a stable system.

    How can I either:

    > Get drivers for an HP Pavilion dv9930us running Windows 7

    > Install Windows XP on an HP Pavilion dv9930

PS. I've received many answers already instructing me to restore my system to factory defaults. If Vista did not give me so many issues, I would consider this; however, "Windows decided the program 'so-and-so' needed to close" is not my favorite message in the world, and Vista delivers this to me too much.

  • Survey - How many chances does he/she get?

Hey there, I have to come up with a case study for school, and here is the issue I've chosen to address. Please answer honestly. Use personal experiences and/or general experiences (something you've read, heard, etc...)

    *********Survey*********

We've heard it before: "Oh, I think I'm going to let him (or her) have one more chance..."

How many times do you let him or her cheat and still be able to take them back? How many chances does s/he get?

  • College Physics-Current Carrying Wires?

Can somebody please explain this to me?

I failed Physics 2 last semester. I could not buckle down on this concept and I need it explained to me please.

    Here is the problem:

    1. The figure shows an end view of two wires carrying current. X means into the page and O means out of the page. What is the direction of force that wire 1 exerts on wire 2.

    2. Refer to the figure in question 1. Is the direction of the magnetic field around wire 1 clockwise or counter-clockwise?

I am tired of paying too much for gaming computers, so now I'm attempting to build my own.

I have been as careful as possible when it comes to making sure I get the right things (IE. a processor that uses the same socket the motherboard offers, and RAM that the motherboard supports, etc...)

Here, I have a list of components I plan on using. The most important thing I'm worried about is what the correct power supply/fan would be. That is the area I really need help with.

    Will this set-up work?

    and

What kind of power supply/fan setup am I looking at here?

    Thanks in advance.
