  • Anyone shopped at pc-titan before?

I'm shopping at a place called http://www.pc-titan.com/ for PC parts but the site looks really shitty so I can't tell if it's legit or not.

If you have, do they deliver to Scotland? I wasn't able to select a Scottish County...

  • Multi GPU...is there any point?

I am building a new desktop in September and I'm getting the new GTX590 as well as the i7 Extreme and Asus Rampage III Extreme, along with 8GB Corsair Dominator RAM. I plan to buy another 16GB RAM later, but I was considering getting a second GTX590. I'm more into production scale work, using Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop most often. Now I know from experience that with After Effects, I can actually run out of available VRAM with less than 30 seconds worth of footage, so the additional 3GB would be really helpful, but what other performance gains could I see from a second (SLI) GTX590?

  • CPU/MOBO compatibility?

I wanted to get this motherboard:

    http://www.crescentelectronics.co.uk/asus-z8nad6-m...

and put 2 Intel i7 Hex-Cores in it (LGA 1366):

    http://www.overclock.co.uk/product/Intel-Core-i7-9...

    Potential problem:

The site the motherboard is on says the Xeons are the only processors compatible...is this true or no? I'd love 24 logical cores...

  • Does After Effects CS3 support the AVCHD codec from solid-state SDHC video recorders?

Got a buddy in college who shot with a Canon Legria HS200 and the version of Media Composer the college has doesn't support AVCHD. Does After Effects CS3 support it?

I know for a fact CS5 supports it, but the college only has CS3.

  • Difference between Adobe / Adobe Elements?

I've known about Photoshop elements for quite some time, but I've not used it since the regular edition suites my current needs.

Just found out there's also After Effects Elements...

What are the main differences between the regular and Elements versions of the Adobe products?

  • Will and when will Media Composer be available in 64 bits?

I've got MC 5.0.3.2 and I've realized while rendering a video that MC is only in 32 bits...so it can only run on one of my four cores.

Anyone have any clue if and when a 64 bit version will be compiled, or if it already has been and I've been ripped off?

  • Difference between Phenom II x6 Black/Normal?

Looking to buy the Phenom II x6 Black, but it happens to be out of stock :/

What's the difference between these two processors really?

    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results....

    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results....

There's only a thirty dollar difference, so there can't be highly significant changes between the two...besides the default clock speed anyway.

Also, the regular x6 costs the same as the x4 Black:

    Which is a bit confusing...

  • Is it possible to upgrade an HDD interface with SATA-II to SATA-III?

I've got 3 HDDs and I'm upgrading my mobo from a 3Gb/s board to a 6Gb/s board...there's only 2 3Gb/s inputs on the main board, and I've got two optical drives as well as an SSD (SATA-II, stuck there I know). But if I could get some extra read/write out of these drives until 4TB+6Gb/s drives become more mainstream then I'll not feel like I'm wasting so much money on it.

So can I upgrade the physical chipset/interface on an HDD? If so, where could I find a relatively decent place to get a few? (Living in the UK at the moment)

  • Which graphics card should I get?

I'm looking to buy one of these graphics cards:

I am a multi-media developer, I use Photoshop, After Effects and Movie Edit Pro on a Windows 7 machine, Intel i5 Quad Core 4GB RAM. I game, but only ON THE SIDE and IN MY SPARE TIME and is not what I want it for.

What benefits can I see between the GTX and the Quadro? From what I've read in the After Effects CS5 documentation, the Quadro would work more efficiently with After Effects and Photoshop, but I'm just not certain.

  • Difference between LGA 1155 and LGA 1156?

Shopping for processors, and I've got an LGA 1156 MOBO and Intel i5. Wanting to upgrade to i7 but the online store I want to buy from only has LGA 1155 available.

What's the main difference, and IS there really a difference?

  • RetasProHD alternative?

I'm building a free Visual Novel...and I'd like to include some animation, but I simply cannot find any good free/relatively cheap animation software. The only thing I have found IS RetasProHD... and since I need 3 of the four parts...I'd need to pay nearly $3K.

There has to be some decent equivalent...?

  • Custom PC - Where to?

I'm looking to build a very powerful video compression workstation but I can't seem to find a site with the custom build requirements.

    Desired Specs:

    Intel Dual CPU MOBO

    2x Intel Xeon OctoCore CPUs +/= 2.66GHz

    +/= 24GB RAM

    any Nvidia Graphics support

HDDs not required (I have many)

Optical disks not required (I have many)

    Liquid cooling

a case to fit it all

Everything else I either have or will plan to buy later.

    Thanks much!

  • iPC - Compatibility issues?

Trying to install either Leopard or Snow Leopard on my machine...

I can't get passed the white "Apple" logo, and I haven't a clue why because I really don't understand what IS and ISN'T compatible...

    Here's my hardware specifications:

    Intel i5 Quad Core Processor

    Gigabyte P55M-UD2 MotherBoard

    4GB OCZ DDR3 RAM

    Nvidia 9500GT GPU

    Samsung BluRay Drive

    Pioneer DVD Drive

    3 HDDs: 500GB, 1.5TB, 2TB

    600W PSU

Can someone tell me why neither the x86 Leopard or x64 Snow Leopard will install?

    Thanks a bunch...

  • Gigabyte P55M-UD2 - Multiple Nvidia graphics?

I've got a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 Motherboard which has 2 graphics card slots (DDR2 I believe) and I have a nVidia 9500GT card already installed and I want to install my newly purchased nVidia 9800GT and use the former for background rendering (as in, My monitor plugged into the 9800, while the 9500 processes). Can I do this?

My intention is to use the second, less powerful card to help out with After Effects CS5, Media Composer 5, and some games like Prototype etcetera, if possible.

I don't have a second monitor, thus I won't be using the ports on it...

Just wondering, not sure if I can use the GPU as an add-on to the other one.

  • Custom event sounds in the new Ubuntu 10.10?

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday, and I'm really starting to like it, except for the sounds.

I've synthesized some system event sounds in FL9 on my Windows 7 desktop, but I can't figure out how to put the sounds into the OS without backing up and overwriting the current ones.

The tutorials for 10.04 make it seem really simple, but I'm pretty sure they've changed it since then. :/

    Any help please?

  • What's a modern-ish PC amplifier for guitar?

Hey, I asked this a few years ago, but my hardware wasn't very good, nor was the available software very good...

Essentially, what I'd like to do is hook my electric guitar to my real small, crappy amp and (with no distortion applied through the amp) record a nice clean guitar track.

I'd THEN like to add the distortion effects OVER the recorded WAV/MP3 file. This would make it easier to get better quality despite the fact that it would take longer.

Now I'm looking for software which gives outstanding effects (if a decent enough WAV/MP3 is supplied).

    Any help is appreciated!
