One of my best friends lives too far away for me to meet him on a regular basis, so we talk on MSN and text each other a lot instead.

However, he got a girlfriend for the first time about a month ago, and now we don't talk as much as I want to. He spends almost all his time with her now, meaning that I can't talk to him.

It used to be that we'd get home from school at about 4:30, then talk on MSN until 11:00, but now he goes to her house after school, and gets home at about 9-10, so we can hardly talk any more.

This wouldn't be so bad if I could see him regularly (like, every day), but I don't. It's a very long train trip to his house, so we don't meet often to talk in real life.

I'm worried that our friendship is going to suffer, and I don't know what to do to prevent that. I've spoken to some people about it, and they say that in time, they'll break up or settle down and then he'll come back and start talking to me more again. But I don't know what to do in the mean time - I'm pretty upset about it all because I feel neglected and unneeded.

Can anyone give me some advice on how I can cope with this, please? Because I really do not know what to do about this...

I'm a guy and I've been friends with a girl for all my life. A month or so ago, I asked if we could be together, but she told me that she didn't know.

I had great trouble dealing with this - severe depression and even contemplating suicide at a very low point recently.

Even worse is that we see each other every friday. I act like an idiot, and just ignore her - hardly look at her and talk to her only when I have to.

However, I can talk to her just fine on text, and she doesn't like that I will chat away on text as if nothing was wrong, but when i see her I won't talk to her face or even acknowledge her presence.

What should I do to fix things so we can be friends again?
