  • My own divergent faction??????

For english we have to come up with our own faction (like in the book Divergent)...does anyone have any ideas, I'm not looking for names just characteristics for a group of people. So far I have thought of people that appreciate nature and then people who just want to be themselves. But i don't think that is really a characteristic...what do you guys think?!

  • Freestyle Ride Help?

Hi! My friend and I have been working on musical freestyles for a while now, and we are going to a fun show soon to perform. We have a few songs in mind but we wanted to know if any of you guys had a good riding song(s)?! We do simple patterns (w/t/c/hg, lead changes, turn on forehand/haunches, side pass, etc). Thanks for help!

  • Barn Day Ideas?????????????????????????????????????

    Hey guys!!!

Okay, we are on spring break, and today we have most of the day to spend at the barn. Problem is, it's nasty outside so were stuck in the arena. But, we were planning on getting pics of some cool stuff for our page online and on instagram/facebook. So what would be some cool things to do with our horses (bow, standing on a stool, bareback stuff) Anyway, help would be great!!!! Were "The Chappettes" btw! We would love for you to like our page or follow us!

  • Costume Ideas!???????

    Hi!

Well, everyone knows Haloween is coming up, and this summer I have been working at another barn with a couple horses. Well, the owner said we could do a performance in a few weeks on them. It is just two of us riding a pattern I came up with, but we want to do it in costumes. So my question is, do any of you guys have costume ideas that both rider and horse could wear? Were doing a mix of freestyle dressage and reining if that says anything. Western tack. Both horses are okay with "weird" stuff being put on them and working in it. Also, we plan on riding to music as well, so any ideas for songs that could go with the costumes you guys suggest? I want to make this a nice performance as 50+ people will be attending!

  • Repost Equitation Question?

I posted an equitation class question a few days ago but didn't get many answers. Basically, my friend and I are going to a show and she wants to know some things she can work on for her Eq class. I told her the most common things (dropping stirrups, lead change, change of diagonal, turn on forehand/haunches, and a couple others) Also, that the judge might ask questions. What have you been asked to do/answer from the judge? We are showing as hunter and on the flat. Thanks guys!! Oh, and we are in the senior (14-17) division.

  • Equitation Class!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Hey guys! My friend and I are heading off to a show soon, and this is her first show. Anyway, I was trying to give her some things the judge might ask you to do in a typical equitation class. She is riding on the flat as a hunter. I gave her a few things, such as figure of eight with lead change, or if trotting change of diagonal, and turn on forehand or haunches, or dropping stirrups. Basically, if you have anything else that would be great, as she wants to practice as much as she can!! Thanks!!!

  • Horse Clips?????????????

Hi, I am making an equestrian commercial for youtube, and I was trying to find some clips besides barrel racing, jumping, dressage, or eventing. I have used pro-stallions.com and jumpingvideo.com and Ebarrelracing.com. Are there any other sites that work and are FREE? I went to BBC and I don't know how to get them without buying them. Thanks!

  • Horse Color Confusion?!?

I have been researching the "silver" or "Z" gene, and now I am a bit stumped. I am almost positive my horse is carrying the silver gene. He has the light colored lower legs and the silver in his mane and tail. I originally thought he was a chestnut with silver, until I read that chestnuts will show no visible sign of the gene. Is this true? If it is, could he be a black with silver, because it will dilute the hair to a chocolate color (which he is) but mentions nothing about light colored legs. Could he then be a brown with silver? I have not read much on it.Just wondering what color is he? Any advice from people who have worked with the silver gene is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Oh, he is a 13 year old American Saddlebred, he may be skinny in the pictures do to the fact he is a rescue and some pictures may be old. Sorry bout the bad pics.

  • Hunter/Jumper Ability?

Wondering if my horse's conformation is good if I wanted to train him in hunter/jumper. He was a rescue, I got him over a year ago. I don't know much about his past, but he was an Amish driving horse, and he trotted about 20 miles down roads every day. I used to ride h/j. I thought of doing it with him when I set up cones in the round pen to block a puddle one day, and he jumped them rather than just trotting around. Since then, I have occasionally made a cross rail or two to let him jump, just to see if he enjoyed it. He hasn't ever refused or run out. Yes, he is an American Saddlebred, and I know a lot of people believe they are only meant for racking around. I've known and seen many jump. He is 16 hands, and in some of the pictures, he may look underweight, but he has gained most if not all his weight back. He is 13 years old. I don't plan on serious showing with him if I do. First, what are his faults, and what are his good points? Do you think he would be better as a hunter or a jumper? Any other advice? Please nothing rude. Thanks! :) Sorry if I left out any information and if my pictures aren't good.

  • Question about training pony to canter?

Hi guys! I am working with a 13 hand Welsh lesson pony on his canter. I am smallish, but obviously the lesson students can't start him cantering. First, they don't know how, and second, I don't think they should start with a flat and fast pony canter. I have cantered him three times, and all went well. I know when you want a horse to canter you need them rounded up and bending and ya, I know all that, and you guys do too. Anyways, he was unbalanced and just like "Um...should I be running or what?" We do lunge him often in it, and he is very good, but we need someone to be on him to get him collected and everything. So when you want them to just get balanced, should you sit down and keep tight rein contact, or lean forward a bit and give a little rein? Any other tips? I will say I have been giving him his head a bit and sitting slightly up in the saddle. I might be wrong though. Thanks guys!

  • Horse Info???????????

Hi guys, just had a question kinda just out of curiosity. I rescued a horse a little over a year ago, and I know he looks a bit like an American Saddlebred (he did come from the American Saddlebred Rescue) but a lot of people have been telling me he may be a mix recently. He does not have an American Saddlebred temperament/personality. Most of the time he is layed back and not a really jumpy or spooky guy. We assume he is in his early teens, but I would like your input too. Yes, I know, to be at a decent guess you need to see their teeth, but I mean by looking for example-sway back, or any other conformational faults do to aging. Also, I assume he is a flaxen chestnut, but his roots are the same color as his coat, so that's another question in itself. He changes through the seasons. Does everything look OK to you guys? Remember, I don't HAVE to know it, but doesn't everyone want people's opinions? Any aditional info is great! He does have a sore back (getting massages) and is still a bit under weight. He was 300 pounds underweight. Sorry for the bad conformation photos, these are all I have. Oh, and yes, I know his feet are bad, they are much much better now.

  • What to do on rainy/snowy/bad weather days?

Ok so today was just one of those days. Nothing to do because of wind and scattered snow showers. I need ideas (besides riding, grooming, lunging, and trick training) to do with my horse. Sorry I know that wipes out a good list, but we don't have an arena at the time, so no cover whatsoever. That's why lunging and riding don't go to well with your round pen being a solid sheet of ice, and I own a a rescue, so we haven't ventured out on the trails, and definatly not a good idea to do on a windy, snowy, and cold day. And everyone knows grooming can get boring, especially once your horse looks good enough for a show. Please just help me with ideas. Most likely they would have to be indoors. I am at a boarding barn, by the way. My horse is pasture boarded, so he doesn't have a stall. Thanks, and please nothing rude.
