If the presidential winds change with the next election, can the plans for a manned base be the same or are their drastic differences? Should Nasa try to plan for both the Moon and Mars in their equipment designs?

Significance as in being perceived as a leading nation in space technology on the world stage.

Which planet (other than Earth)? Mars or Venus? Could Russia or China be first in achieving this goal?

An idea suggested by scientists is that an asteroid could be redirected to Mars for impact. It would create a crater and heat that would last for many years at the site of the impact. The heated crater would be used to create a lake where a settlement would be located. The whole planet of Mars would not have to be modified, only a small area. A lot of the people that stay here beyond their time or come here illegally, are coming here for a reason. Why aren't those reasons discussed? Why doesn't the news media dig deeper on the motives?

It is usually best practice to not keep all your eggs in one basket. And to diversify your portfolio. Therefore, considering all the possible things that could destroy life on Earth, shouldn't the Moon or Mars be a priority? Or is this project beyond the means of today's societies? What about building sustainable systems where life (not necessarily human) would live (self contained ecosystems that would reside on the Moon or Mars)?

Reminds me of Microsoft Windows "Start" button where you have to click the "Start" button to turn off the computer.

If employers replace workers with robots; should some of the savings that a company makes go to pay the robots income tax (the amount a human would have to be charged to do that job) to the government?

You already paid for your Social Security and Medicare, but isn't better we let folks like Ryan and Trump take it away. Old white folks don't need it anyway.
