  • Why does Yahoo install malicious cookies\/?

I have just completely cleaned my machine of cookies, adware, malware and temporary files.

I have left my cookies folder open, which was empty. Upon signing into Yahoo, I noticed the folder begin filling up with the following cookies:

    ad.yieldmanager

    adopt.euroclick

    adrevolver

    apmebf

    atdmt

    media.adrevolver

    mediaplex

    tradedoubler

My cookie privacy is set to medium - any higher and Yahoo refuses to sign you in.

The cookies are an absolute pain in the a*** because they slow down my internet, which struggles on mobile broadband as it is.

My question is not why they do this - the answer to that is obvious. My question is how can they get away with this, and how do I prevent it?

  • Where can I download Morpheus?

I have just got a new laptop and am trying to download Morpheus.

The link on morpheus.com directs me to a third party website run by CBS. This website displays a number of bit torrent sites but not morpheus.

Has it been shut down? If not, from where can I download it without registring with a 3rd party site?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • Where can I get an optical/coaxial to USB converter?

I found a minidisc recorder in my front garden the other day and amazingly it works! I would now like to record my mixing onto mindisc then bounce it into my laptop for further editing.

The obvious answer is to record straight into the laptop but the standard A-D recorder is pretty duff quality.

I would like to utilise the record quality of the minidisc and bounce it later.

Any ideas if I can get such a converter?

  • Why do we have to work 9-5?

I have just read an answer from a certain Mr m4rkowen, and it raised a question that I have pondered over for a long time now....

Why on earth do we all have to work 9-5???

Ok, not all, but that is still typical office hours. Nearly all offices run at some time between 8 and 6pm, meaning everybody is on the road at the same time, to take a doctors appointment means time off work (costing the economy) and its tricky for some to pick up the kids from school.

Would it not make sense for working hours to be staggered between different workplaces? After all, most business to business requires admin time, this could be done when the other side has gone home or before they arrive to work and vice versa.

We live in a global economy and I cant see the UK shutting down overnight from this, after all we can currently do business with anyone from a one hour to a 12 hour time difference.

9-5 is sooooooo 20th Century! Would another way work?

  • Who moderates Y! Answers?

I have only been violated once, so Im not having a moan... just curious as to who gets paid to moderate this community.

I mean, what a fantastic job, being paid to be on here, plus it would mean I would have more spare time! I have never seen such a job advertised in my local paper, where and how do I apply for one? I like to think I am a reasonable, rational, level headed person if you want my cv....

  • Does anybody do this?

Surf through Y! Answers, finding an interesting answer, clicking on that person's avatar and seeing what other answers they have posted... finding another interesting answer, clicking on their avatar etc etc...

Its amazing some of the weird, wacky and interesting stuff I have picked up lately!

  • Programming languages for websites - which and why?

We are building a website for our record label, ukhomegrownmusic.com and I thought it was a simple case of html and java.

I just read a great question about SQL which really opened my eyes! There were so many languages mentioned that I have heard about but never understood the relevance of.

What languages should we delve into and what results can we expect?

    Thanks :)

  • smoking and rebellion, any links?

According to a Commons report, approximately 80% of prisoners smoke, as opposed to about a quarter of the general population.

The question, as with crime, is this because of nature or nurture?

  • Partial smoker?

you have smokers and non-smokers. How about the person that has smoked for years, but given up several times, are they a semi-smoker?

  • Are private landlords destroying our communities?

My street, like many these days, has a large percentage of properties owned by buy-to-letters. With tenants coming and going every six months, people are less likely to have a natter over the garden fence for instance.

Does this correlate with the rise in crime, lack of community spirit, fear to go out at night.

And don't just blame the immigrants, they have to private-rent too!

  • How can I remotely pick up my T-mobile voicemail?

For example using a landline or another phone? I know you can do this on Vodafone by calling yourself, rejecting the call and entering a pin number.

Can this be done on T-moby, and if so what is the default pin code?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanx :)

  • Why do people moan about the standard of peoples questions?

Then go ahead and write a 1000 word essay to answer them! Its mad!! If you don't like the question, move on and answer one that you do!!!

The beauty of Y! Answers is that you can find out interesting knowledge, have a bit of banter, have idle chit chat or laugh at the downright silly. Plus read other people's moans, lol!
