  • Is the speed of light really a constant?

    We think about the speed of light as a constant.

    Apparently, different wave lengths of light do travel at slightly different speeds.

    I am having trouble finding exact amounts of change. The closest that i can find is that the difference in speed is insignificant. This indicates that there is a difference.

    The speed of light does change significantly when it enters a different medium.

    Thus a glass prism causes light to be separated into all of its component colors.

    There is a very wide range of wave lengths of light.

    How does the speed vary?
