What is the most unusual or bizarre way someone you know has died?
My nephew was killed this Friday by a palm tree. He was suffocated by the weight of the dead fronds that sort of collapsed and pinned him to the tree 35 feet up in the air. Took firefighters 2 hours to cut through fronds to get him down. Know this happened cause we are planning his funeral but it is still very, very surreal. This is the first time this has ever happened in Las Vegas Nevada and much of it was captured on video by the local news station KTNV but it is still unreal!

My nephew was suffocated by the fronds of a palm tree he was trimming. He was 35 ft. up the tree and the dead fronds collapsed on him and suffocated him. It took the fire dept. 2 hours to get him down because the fronds were so heavy. This was the first time this ever happened in Las Vegas Nevada. This happened Friday April 30, 2009.

does the whole country have PTSD? are there a lot of people teetering on the verge?
1 AnswerOther - News & Events1 decade agoDo you think changes in laws regarding selling "chronic" high grade marijuana will impact the white community?
there will be much harsher penalities imposed, similar to harsher penalties that were imposed for crack over powder cocaine. this had a devastating impacet on the black male population. I think these new laws will impact white males in a similar manner. for the first time whites incarcerated for drugs has surpassed blacks.
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDo you think the price of bullets and ammunition should be increased or a steep tax added?
In light of the recent tax increase on cigarettes and tobacco products and the arguement for doing this being their harmful nature- to those who use them and to others via second hand smoke, don't you think there should be an increase in the price of bullets and ammo clips in light of the fact that bullets harm just as many if not more people as cigarettes. The effect of bullets is much more immediate than second hand smoke. With the recent rash of mass killings, I think we need to reconsider acces to weapons or raising the price of ammo!
9 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoShouldn't our government do something to insure that American citizens can keep their homes ?
I am worried that foreigners (Chineese etc.) will purchase all of the foreclosed homes and Americans will not be able to have houses in our own country. They have junkets coming over from China and Japan on "Foreclosure tours" looking at foreclosed homes and purchasing them in record numbers.!!!

8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoShould Foxy Brown have gotten the Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan plan, instead of one year?
It is interesting to me that she got one year for violating her probation, yet the others named got only days or hours for violating the terms of their sentences. Why do you think that is???
6 AnswersCelebrities1 decade agocurious- If a U.S. citizen is convicted of a crime in a foreign country, do they then have a record in U.S.?
For example: if convicted of say, drug smuggling in Peru, after their release from the foreign countries jail, do they then have a record of the crime in the United States?
P.S. I have no intent to commit a crime anywhere, I'm just curious because of a show I saw recently.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIn Your World, how many people's opinions do you take seriously, snd who are they????
In these days and times, there are a very limited number of people whom I take seriously, even amongst my own friends and family. So many people seem to dwell in an alternate reality populated by one (like Mr. Bush). I take myself seriously, one of my sisters, one of my male friends who is currently in Iraq, my supervisor (even though she is a serious Bible thumper) and two of my brothers. Bill Moyers, Bill Maher ( in an amusingly serious sort of way) John Daly, and from time to time Jerry Springer.

2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWomen of Yahoo Answers, should Don Imus be held to a higher standard than others??
In light of the fact that his show was cancelled due to his comments about the Rutgers women, don't you think that it is time we also censure the commercial denigration of women present in the rap music/hip-hop industry? Shouldn't members of the community that Mr. Imus wa punished for speaking negatively about be held at least to an equal standard? Why do we continue to purchase and condone (even if tacitlly), a product that routinely promotes mysoginistic attitudes towards women in general and Black women in particular, and refers to us in much more offensive ways than even Mr. Imus did?
14 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoDo you think that members of congress and senate and all other elected officials should be drug tested?
Don't you find it strange that they will test the janitor at a company and not the CEO? The person that fills the vending machines on capitol hill is tested but not the congress. Soldiers are drug tested and not the Commander in Chief. The person who brings your food to you in the hospital is tested and not the doctor? Just curious..........
6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy do so many people refuse to use spell check prior to posting a question or an answer?
This truly puzzles me. The same skill that they use to log on to websites etc. can be used to click spell check. Do you find it hard to take these people seriously?
6 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoDo you think that the $3 donation requested on the tax form could be put to better use?
The donation requested is for help with campaign funds. There is an obscene amount of money already being spent on campaigns as it is. What do you think it could be better used for?
3 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade agoRather than just global warming doesn't it seem the world is having global weather extremes of heat and cold?
There are areas of the world that are experiencing heavy rain, while other areas are having severe droughts at the same time. . Increased intensity of hurricaines and tornados in areas that don't usually have them. Volcanic eruptions around the world and earthquakes in areas that are not prone to them. Seems we are being subjected the weather extremes and increased geological activitiy as well.
