Why do single stuffed oreos even exist?

At most grocery stores regular oreos and double stuffed oreos are priced exactly the same. The total grams of cookie are roughly the same for a same sized package of single stuffed oreos and double stuffed oreos. How does Nabisco justify producing normal oreos and double stuffed? They have to change all the packaging and labels to say double stuffed, yet they are priced exactly the same. Why not switch to just double? How many people would stop buying oreos just because they increase the amount of filling? From a business standpoint, I think it would make more sense for Nabisco to eliminate regular oreos. What do you think?
