Sharping Stones --- Honing oil versus Mineral oil?
Thanks for looking. This question is solely for the differences.
Is there a difference, if any, between manufactured honing oil or mineral oil?
If so ... what?
If the sole purpose is to keep the pores of the stone free from metal residue what does the honing oil provide that basic lubricant, like mineral oil, doesn't?
Thanks again.
7 AnswersHunting7 years agoWhisper PF 60 ???
I am not a aquarium novice. But, I mostly used an under gravel filter before upgrading to a larger tank and a diffrent filtration system.
The whisper 60 has two BIO filter cartridges (individual flow).
My ? is ... Should I change both at the same time or just one at a time ?
I do not want to kill/destroy the good bacteria that the old filter(s) cartridges has established.
No ... This is not a TetraTec 300/500 in which you would just "shuffle" the cartridges.
Yes ... This "new" tank was properly "cycled" .
If you own one of these, or if you have any information regarding my question, please answer.
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoKissing Fish ???
I have purchased 2 Kissing fish (Kissing Gourami's) 2 weeks ago. 1 of them is darting around the tank constanly (when the light is on) the other seems to appear sick (laying on it's side at times) but, it also will dart MANY times throughout the day but then will return to the bottom seeming like it lays dieing. But, as I said before, when I think I need to "net" and humanly anethitize it it resumes a vigorous swim for an hour an go back to the laying on it's side for hours after.
Do I have a sick fish, or is this normal behavior with this species?
10 AnswersFish1 decade agoFishing Ethics ?!?!?
You get up early enough to get to the lake, pond, river to get to your favorite spot before everyone else. It doesn't matter if you're shore or boat fishing. You and / or your group are pulling in fish and are having a great time. Another group or boat, seeing that your doing well, comes to your position uninvited and starts disrupting you and or your groups pleasent day (tangling your lines, kids throwing rocks in the water, etc.). This has happened to me several time this year alone, mostly on the shore.
You do not own the shore line and of course you do not own the water.
I have pleaded a few occurances that I / we here first and kindly asked the other party to leave and mostly was greeted with either a F-U look or ignored completely.
Has this ever happened to you, or have you done this to others?
And if this has happened to you how did you deal with it?
I would like to hear from both sides.
