  • What price of gasoline will break the back of the U.S. economy?

Simple answers only, please. No dissertations about OPEC, economics, traders and speculators, Big Oil, etc. I'm just looking for some views or, if possible, consensus on a likely price, e.g., $5.99, $10.99, up to.......(whatever you think) ?????

"Breaking the back of the U.S. Economy", as I've defined it, means a massive National depression, bank failures, 25-50% unemployment, and perhaps even violent strikes and riots in the streets. What's the magic number? It may be coming.

  • Why is Congress investigating steroid use in baseball? Aren't there more important national issues?

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's investigaton of performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball is front page "news" on a daily basis. Even Committee Members are now going on record stating that this is not their job, rather, they should be overseeing the multi-trillion dollar enterprise of the US Government. Would not the taxpayer gain more by Congressonal oversight of the hundreds of billions of dollars that have been untracebly lost in Iraq, probably to the defense industrial base or to the pockets of retired militry "consultants." This seems infinitely more important than who injected whom with what in the locker room.
