There was a relaxed tone throughout the episode, when officers spoke with each other, even to the captain. And the captain seemed to correct his officers when they behaved (rather dramatically) out of line. But that relaxed communication was not permitted to Geordi when he approached Riker at Farpoint. In the following episode, when Troi was physically weakened by the "pain" felt empathically, everyone was around her tending to her. But Riker, not saying "excuse me", or otherwise, rudely gestures to Geordi to get out of the way... yet he allowed Yar to stay (who was the same rank as Geordi). Why was he so dismissive of him? Did he feel threatened by Geordi in some way?

Then there is Picard basically doing the same thing to Riker. Not looking at him, hardly acknowledging his presence, and then handing him a delicate task that could have potentially damaged the Enterprise.

This kind of rank-pulling, dick-measuring, bravado seems to fundamentally betray the very thing they were trying to prove to Q... namely that they are NOT savage, controlled by their egos, and not greedy nor violent.

Yet when the base of your mentality, still mimics all that savage (animal-like) alpha male , ego-bruising... how do you NOT expect that to carry over into more sophisticated tasks like commanding the Enterprise, or negotiating with superior beings. It makes the "enlightenment" appear superficial.

Can anyone offer possible explanations for the interactions between those 3 characters?

I am trying to attend SPSU. An admissions rep, said I need my transcripts from NOVA. I never finished my first semester at NOVA because of living arrangement hardships. So I stated because of that, I have no transcripts there.

She still said they would need confirmation from the school that I have no transcripts. I don t understand. I have a balance at NOVA that has a hold on the account, that prevents me from doing anything related to transcripts, and I would imagine that would include even confirming that transcripts exist. Though I haven t contacted NOVA to confirm this.

This is a damned if you do, damned if you don t situation. I work and am caught in a bubble that further delay my education.

I will try to fight against this systemic failure at some other point.
