Is it too much for a father to base his life around his wife and kids? Work a job because of the money not because of he loves the work, does not go out with the boys as he wants to be home with her and the kids, wants to do the household chores because he feels he is helping?

I am having a difficult time with this. My wife at first said I was not invited (we went through a 2 month separation when this was planned over one year ago) but then found out I was invited and she said no 4 months ago. She did not want to tell me as she knew that I would be upset. She said it would not be fun if I went! We have been together for 20 years (I am 39 she is 42) with three great kids. I love her but she says she does not love me. We tried counseling last year and she did not like what the therapist was saying so she will not go back. I dropped them off at the airport and am still having a heck of time thinking about it. Any advice?
