  • Is an HDMI cable worthwhile?

    Hi,

I've recently bought an HD ready 37 inch LCD TV and a DVD player which is HD compatible, with progressive scan. Both have HDMI sockets.

I realise neither are true HD, so do you think it is worthwhile spending the extra moey on an HDMI lead? Will any improvement be significant? I can't say I'm unhappy with the picture quality from DVDs as it is, except for the slight "smearing" that seems a feature of LCDs. Its worse from other sources though, and rarely noticeable from DVDS. I'm currently using three composite leads. Am I right in thinking that the HDMI lead replaces all of these?

If I go for HDMI, I'm assuming that it would be a male/male lead that I need?

    Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!
