  • What is wrong with my foot?

I'm a dancer and for the past month or so my left foot has been in pain. I have absolutely no idea what I did to injure it, because I wasn't in the middle of any activity when it started bothering me.

At first the pain was in the arch, closer to the inside of the foot, and it was fairly mild so I didn't bother going to a doctor. A few weeks passed and it was getting worse, so I had it checked out and I was sent for x-rays; the doctor thought I had a hairline fracture in the little square bone on the outside of the foot. Until he prodded at me I had no pain whatsoever in that area. I got the results back and there doesn't appear to be a fracture, and now I'm waiting on an appointment with my family doctor.

Since being examined, I've developed pain on the outside of my foot as well, around the little square bone and the long bone that connects to the little toe. The arch is still a problem. They're sharp pains that come and go at random and don't appear to be caused by certain activities (it starts to hurt before I even get out of bed in the morning), although walking a lot makes the pains more frequent. My toes also feel constantly cramped, even without shoes.

I've noticed that the foot in question tends to roll in when I stand; I don't know if it's always been like that or if it's just started since I hurt it. Also, the square bone juts out a bit on both feet - it's been like that my whole life - so if I lose my balance and roll out, it puts pressure on that bone.

So, what I want to know is:

Exactly what part of my foot did I injure? A bone, a tendon?

What might I have done to cause this?

Any suggestions for pain relief until I get to see my doctor?

  • How were female authors treated in the Victorian era?

I'm doing some research and I need help.

Victorian Web lists 27 female authors of the Victorian era, one of which used a male psuedonym (George Eliot). So I have a few questions about female authors in Victorian times...

    1) How were they treated compared to male authors and what was society's take on them?

    2) What genres did they write?

    3) What kind of challenges would they face in their careers?

    4) What kind of successes could a woman expect as an author in those days?

And one more general question: How were books published and distributed then?

Any information about the life of Victorian authors (particularly female) and the process of getting a book out there (and basically anything along those lines) would be greatly appreciated.

And in case anyone is wondering, this isn't schoolwork.

  • What's the best way to put up a poster without damaging it (or the wall)?

So I've got this poster, about 2 x 3 feet. I want to put it on my wall.

Sticky-tack leaves residue on the wall and discolors the areas of the poster it covers. I'd rather not put too many holes in the wall either (so no thumb tacks) and tape... well I'm afraid it'll peel the paint off the wall or rip the poster when I take it down.

    Any suggestions?

  • Chemical and Physical Changes?

Ok, so I'm doing a lab and I'm stuck. We're supposed to give examples where these happen:

    1. a precipitate forms

    2. the starting material is used up

We need to come up with a case where there is a chemical reaction causing the above, and another that only causes a physical change. Ideas?

  • Math Help: Percentages?

Mark made a poster for his room by enlarging a photo of his favourite hockey player, which he took himself. The original photo had the dimensions 6 by 9cm. Mark enlarged the picture by 180% but found it still wasn't big enough. He then had the enlarged photo enlarged again by 190%. What are the dimensions of his final poster?

Please don't just give me the answer, but how you got it as well. I've tried many times but I just can't get it right.

  • Tokyo Mew Mew Cosplay?

Looking to make a Mew Ichigo costume, any tips? Keep in mind I'm on a tight budget and haven't got all that much sewing skill, so something not too complicated would be good! Thanks!

  • Can anyone fix my Sims?

I bought the Sims 2 Nightlife expansion pack and it won't install on my computer. I have the base game and several expansions already and they all work fine. I've tried many times to install it and it works fine up until right after it checks to see if the version is up to date. Then it just says "Please Wait" and won't do anything.

If I go into Task Manager it's not in Applications, but it's in Processes. It says it's doing something but it's only taking up about 1% of my computer's activity, and it's going slower than a turtle with no legs.

I've tried closing all background tasks and shutting off virus scans and all that. It's the only thing on. I need a new approach.

Anyone know how I can fix the problem?

By the way, I've got Windows XP.
