How much will having a baby cost?
My wife is pregnant, and we have health insurance, but I'm still curious how much money we'll need for everything within the first month or two of the baby's birth. How much should I save for this? Thanks
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoIf Bill Ayers was a terrorist, why isn't he in prison?
Serious replies please! I don't mean this to be a pro or anti Obama message, I'm just very confused how someone that admitted to setting off bombs could become a college professor and live a normal life as those it was just something normal in his past. Is he a terrorist or isn't he?
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoDid Bay Buchanan just let McCain's plan slip?
A few minutes ago on CNN while talking about Sarah Palin, John Roberts asked Bay about the Oct. 2 debates, Bay replied "For the President?" Roberts answered "For the Vice President," and Bay said something to the fact unless the presidential debate isn't post-poned. Is it possible that McCain's real strategy is to miss the debate so he can come back and argue that him and obama should replace the vice presidental debate since we're voting for president after all, and in the process help palin from having to debate Biden?

Will we see Hilary Clinton take a renewed role in the election has Obama's prime surrogate against Palin?
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoHas McCain flip-flopped on Affirmative action?
McCain has repeated voted against affirmative action, but in his first presidential act, he's chosen a woman over about 10 other much higher qualifying men. Has he flipped on his stance against affirmative action?

If one day we woke up to see gas at 50 dollars a gallon and milk at 100 dollars a gallon (like what has happened at various times in other parts of the world), could it be possible that my friends in England could just send over 1,000 pounds (two weeks of pay for them) for me to pay off my 80,000 student loan?

Should you take cigars out of their plastic wrappers when you put them in your humidor, or will the wrappers help keep the cigar moist?

1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agoDo you think the cancellation of the Daily Show has effected the election?
Because of the writers strike, most comedy news programs have been off the air for months. So I wonder if the Iowa Caucuses and maybe the next few primaries will be effected by the sudden silencing of these political voices. I wonder if the programs actually made people more turned off by politics, and with them off the air, people feel easier with being more vested in the program.

Is there a good way to loose chin fat? I already exercise, and not very fat over all. It's just on the chin. Is there like a fat burning cream that can melt it away?

2 AnswersXbox1 decade agoDoes the xbox 360 upconvert DVDs to 1080? or is it better to buy a good dvd player?
I have a hd tv, and I'm using just the xbox 360 to play dvds. Would it be better to use a 100 dollar dvd player that upgrades dvds to 1080 definition, or will it still look just like when the xbox plays them?
3 AnswersXbox1 decade agoWhy do people assume that Americans can't pronounce aluminum?
I've heard a lot of people, even americans, complain that we pronounce it wrong because the British pronounce it different, but aluminum is the original name and the brits changed it to alooniam to make it match the other metal names... I just wanted to say that.
7 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoIs education failing because of poor teachers?
I see a lot of posts here where a presumed teacher will first complain about spelling before responding to a post- often in a belittling way. I wonder if these teachers run their classrooms in the same way. Perhaps this is why their students are afraid to write or respond even to the simplest questions. Is not the idea more important than the transmission of the idea? And it what ways can we encourage better grammar while still acknowledging and rewarding brilliant questions and answers?
15 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoWhy do people think racism is learned?
Every culture around the world has some sort of racism. Some is based on color, other on shapes of faces, and some are really random and based on nothing more than assumed family roots dating back thousands of years. If every culture has a type of racism, why do we assume that it's learned rather than inherent to society? Being an inherent by-product to group dynamics does not make it morally right.
