  • Can lead poisoning be transferred from person to person?

I nanny a little girl who just tested positive for high levels of lead. My daughter had a lead test a few months ago which was negative for any lead. Can the girl I nanny in anyway spread or leach the lead during her treatment?

  • Is my toddler dehydrated/ill?

My 20 month old woke up with a wet diaper at around 6am. She had milk and then vomited twice. She ate a little for breakfast and lunch, she had milk twice, a little water and half a juice box. At 4:30 her diaper was only a little bit wet. I'm worried that she is dehydrated because she peed so little in that time. She doesnt have a fever and is acting normal. But she is just getting over an ear infection.

  • Teen moms, why do you choose not to breastfeed?

I was a teen mom and I breast/formula fed for 3 months, then stopped formula all together. I'm still breastfeeding my 13mo. Just curious why so many young mother's choose not to breastfeed. No judgment, just curious

  • Shakey and headaches, is it from breastfeeding?

My daughter is 3.5 months old she nurses every 1 hour and once in the night. For the past 2 weeks I've had a headache almost everyday. I've been having body pains, shaking, dizziness. Since she was born I have lost 45 pounds I am almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 115. What could be causing all these symptoms? Is it constant nursing, stress, weightloss or something else? Thanks

  • I feel like a bad mother. am I?

Last night my 3 month old would not fall asleep, finally at 1:15ish she fell asleep and I did too. At 1:45 she woke up again so I brought her into our bed to give her milk (I put the blanket at the end of the bed and hold both arms around her so she cant move) I accidentally fell asleep and I didnt wake up until 3am, my daughter was fine and the blankets were still down but I feel like a bad mother and that I could have put her in danger. I was only in and out of sleep and I would have woken up if she'd have moved or cried but I still cant stop thinking about it :(

  • I do not want the people at WIC touching/holding my baby.?

I have an appointment at WIC tomorrow and I do not want the staff/nurses touching/holding my 3 month old. I have severe anxiety and hate when people touch her, and I do not trust anyone other then a few close family members to hold her. Will this cause problems wit my appointment and getting what I need.

    Thanks.

Please no rude comments, we are going through a rough time right now and this is only a temporary thing.

My 3 month old is about to out grow her bassinette so I am moving her into her big girl crib. Right now it is in a small alcove, so two and a half of the sides are against walls. I'm worried that if it os here she wont get enough ventilation and air flow and I have heard that can cause SIDS. Any thoughts or experience?? Thanks.

  • Could I be pregnant, 3 months postpartum?

I gave birth 3 months ago, I am pretty much exclusively breastfeeding. I'm on the Mini pill estrogen free birth control. I am so scared that I am pregnant. I have been having really bad stabbing/cramping pain exclusively on my left side where my uterus is. At my 2 month postpartum visit I was completely healed from giving birth to my daughter, so I know its not that. I have also been getting stabbing pains in my breasts.. We've had sex 6 times, 3 times with a condom and 3 without but he never ejactulated inside of me. I would go to the drs but I dont have insurance right now. Thanks

  • Periodic breathing or something else?

When my daughter was born she aspirated (inhaled) muconium (poop) which caused a collapsed lung. She was in the NICU for 2 weeks and has had no lasting problems. She is now 2 months old. Yesterday she was taking a nap when my husband notice she was breathing strange.. she would take a breath then not breathe for a couple of seconds then catch up by taking several very fast shallow breaths. This continues for several minutes, we took her to the ER, they ran tests but dismissed it. She kind of did the same thing again today. In the night time she does periodic breathing, but I've never seen it look like this before. I called the NICU and told them but they cant give advice over the phone..I dont know what to do.. My pediatrican is terrible and my local hospital is too. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanksi

  • Wild kitten and a new baby?

Today my boyfriend brought home a wild kitten from his job, as they were going to be taken away and put down if they stayed. I am 40 weeks pregnant, the midwife said I should avoid handling the kitten until he has been to a vet and gotten shots. As far as the newborn baby goes, from what I've read, as long as the kitten is healthy it's fine to have them in the same house. Any information or experience would be great, thanks!

  • Do I need to bring my boyfriend when I apply for temporary assistance?

I'm going to Social Services to apply for temporary assistance. I am pregnant and I have heard that if he is not with me when I file for it, he will have to pay child support? Is this true? If it is not, is there anything that I have to bring with me? Also we don't live together so he is not listed as living in my residence. Thanks

  • Could my fetus be damaged?

I am a firefighter and during the first month of pregnancy I was exposed to heavy smoke conditions (burnt tires, garbage, hay, ect.) and insectiside, could this cause damage to the embryo. Also as a firefighter I was doing a lot of heavy lifting and excersize. I've visited the doctor and they said that the fetus is smaller then it should be, but they cannot detect anything else yet. Any advice?
